mGBA: Pokémon Green stuttering during gameplay

It lasts less than a second but it happens frequently, it's very annoying. It always happens at the same moments: the battle is just over and then it happens. How could I solve it?

is it just happening on pokemon green? same issue on red/blue?
check framerate setting, change max fps (i left it at native)
check with audio/video sync check/unchecked.
change video render (open gl old, or software or whatever else is there)

check your task manager, last time i had problems something else was using my memory and CPU

i'm assuming it's not a mGBA issue, i'll check on my end

yeah it's not happening to me when i tried it here, i have SGB borders on too (it didn't change without it on GB only) i'm also tried with 2x speed and unlimited speed no lag at all.
so i'm gonna post screenshots of any settings that i think could help.

check version number too, in case it's not updated to now.

also try a full PC restart, i know it's dumb but you never know what crap your PC does
random thought, is the game in a zip file? highly doubt a GB game would struggle to load out of one, but i'm narrowing options down.

I haven't actually tested other games but Pokémon Green, I downloaded mGBA only for playing it. My mGBA version is the same of yours. The game is not in a zip file, it's a .GB game. I'll post a couple of screenshots for showing you my settings (they're all default, I didn't change anything there). After this, I'll test your settings and then I'll tell you if it solved my problem or not

I've altered my settings to be equal to yours, it solved my problem but I don't know exactly why... I guess it could be the video renderer or the fast forward speed, but I'm not sure. However, thank you!

retroarch uses mGBA as a core anyways, it shouldn't be different

It doesn't happens in Visual Boy Advance, i don't know why... Like, a more recent emulator should do better, right?

I heard that even if RetroArch uses the same core it actually runs withouth stuttering, but I haven't tested it yet

My only guess is that you had the software renderer enabled, since you said it was fixed when you switched to the above settings, which had it as OpenGL. You might try switched just that back and see if you run into the issue again, if you're curious. That is a bit of an odd issue though.
