I think you should try it out. Give yourself two hours, play, and ask yourself at the end if the game is worth it to keep playing.I'm so unsure if to restart Metroid Prime 3 on the vanilla stand-alone version or return with the Trilogy without having no idea what's going on since it has been 1 decade and half since I've played it.
I'm currently fully into Legends Z-A, but by the times MP4 will be out I'll be...not ready. Like, wow, this game is actually happening for real, just like KH III didand disappointing all of us on the narrative.

I can only smile and shake my head with the overall lukewarm fan reaction to Prime 4. We definitely waited far too long for this game, and that will always be held over its head.
I don’t know and can’t judge on if the game will be a solid continuation on story or dungeon exploration. What I will say is that, like many others, I was more exasperated and disappointed at the direction with the bike. It’s certainly visually ridiculous, but that’s not my issue. Nor is my issue “they won’t be able to fill the world with enough stuff!”, although that’s certainly possible. I’m frustrated because it seems to be yet another AAA game that feels the only way to use the technology given to the team is to make a more open world. Even if handled well, that feeling of “they only went this direction because they got stuck on how to make this game stand out from the others, so they went with a tried and true tactic” will always hang over it.
I remember that when Dread came out people praised it for being a return to form for games (a genuinely hard 2D adventure game with great visuals that showed off the system, that didn’t have any pesky updates or microtransactions to get in the way). Plus, it was clearly made with love and was made by a smaller team, so that care and attention was something you could really feel while playing. Dread was so good that it dethroned Metroid Prime 1 as being my favorite Metroid game and my second favorite game of all time.
I’m still excited, but I’m less excited than I was before. Thank goodness it’s not Switch 2 exclusive, otherwise I would have been furious and would not have played. As it stands, I’m still excited to finally play Prime 4, but I’m not enthusiastic about the game and I’ll wait for independent reviews from people whom I trust with Metroid before I consider spending the big bucks to buy it for myself. The last thing I’d want is to waste $70 on a game that I won’t even come close to finishing, after all.
