We've all been there, you get to the File Select screen to Save or Load your game for the first time and hear a track so good you stop what you're doing and let it play through. Lets hear your favorites!

Here a few that come to mind for me:

Sonic 3

Mario 64

ICO

Unicorn Overlord

Sonic 2 - Options Zone

A lot of Castlevania games also have pretty good File Select music, strangely enough

but if I had to say my favorite, it would be the one from Portrait of Ruin

well its not really file select, but the account login screen from Ragnarok Online.

Does this count
I really don't know what constitutes a save or load theme, and a lot of the games with these types of themes I like tend often to be games that don't even  have a save or load screen

I mean, it's less of a selection screen, but the Code Veronica save room theme (since it technically plays when using the typewriter as well) always stuck with me a bit more than others in the franchise:

Why would you make the load screen theme so sad and poignant ::sadkirby How am I supposed to be in the mood for adventure now O_o I don't know why but it works, I love it and that makes this one memorable to me ^_^

Yah I would say password entry counts in this thread! And I'm impressed by how long this melody is! Most NES tunes loop pretty quickly so this was a nice surprise.

I agree its quite somber but beautiful nonetheless.

I'll always have a soft spot for this one, though. Any chance to talk about PSO, I take it

Oh god this one is so good. I must've spent hours of my life just idling and listening to this before logging in. So cool.

Surprised to not see any mentions of Dearly Beloved. It's technically the title screen music, but it also plays when loading, so maybe it counts?

And the classic "Intermezzo" file select theme of almost every Dragon Quest

The entire OST is relaxing, in fact for a Souls game, the game itself is relaxing

I was hoping someone would post this one. My parents didn't get me either of the 16-bit consoles when I was a kid, so my experience with those games were any time I was over at a friends house. And while I mostly watched my neighbor friend play A Link to the Past, I never saw the Save menu, or at least I don't remember seeing/hearing it.

Years later I was fortunate enough to get an N64 for Christmas in 97 (after Nintendo dropped the price I was finally able to convince my parents) so on Christmas Eve 98 to my joy I received Ocarina of Time. I remember after all the festivities had ended and everyone went to bed, I fired up the game and watched the opening Title Screen play through at least once. And when I finally got to the File Select screen and hearing this track, I just sat there for a few minutes listening to it loop. It was the most tranquil track I ever heard (at least until I discovered Zora's domain). I don't think I went to sleep until after 3am that night. Got as far as beating Goma and went to bed in awe at what I just experienced.
