Honestly I don't seem to like a lot of 2020s stuff. Maybe it's because I already graduated, but they seem......really bad. I think it's also because memes in the past would still involve stuff that are considered good, like video games and other pieces of media that have at least some value to them. It's true that there are late 2010s memes that were also pretty bad, but it managed to get a small laugh out of me (maybe that's because I was just trying to cope with school though)

Now it seems like a lot of memes are centered around things that you literally would not feel bad for missing out on. Like oh, the newest insta/tiktok reels meme or whatever. None of it has any kind of good influence/value at all. And I think something's definitely wrong when there are people that try to make you feel bad for "not getting it" or missing out on something that isn't even that's just going to be forgotten about. (Examples include the italian/indonesian brainrot meme, labubu, dubai chocolate, like is any of this stuff actually memorable?!)

Around the early stages of internet memes were limited to weird/interesting stuff, then newer generation decided a meme should be funny which this is the "meme" people knew of and it included heavy gatekeeping on weeding out "not that funny" memes despite they can be interesting and all. Now it seems the people whose meme were rejected found their own easy comminity in usual social medias like Twitter, Instagram and Tiktok to enjoy whatever they shit as a meme because everyone "fake smile" and upvote any shit for fan and follower service and then it fuels social pressure further to keep being "normal" so "people will follow me" and "I won't lose followers". This is the way, these follower seeker brain dead people always publicly shame anyone like fascists they are when you are not like how most people are in social media. But the spoiler alert is social media is filled with insane people where sane people limit their social media to something "they had to create an account" just because their life forced it like Facebook, LinkedIn and whatnot.

Nope I won't say "internet is evil", however when humanity is fundamentally insane with very few sane people among us current state of social media makes people more insane that they normalized their insanity further. In that regard early examples of memes came from common sense that what a human can relate universally, then 2nd wave of "meme gotta be funny AF" people from Imgur, Reddit, 4chan and whatever brain fart social medias made meme turn into something of a circle jerk that "only we understand it" and it made their "us vs them mentality" triggered further that eventually evolved into cancel culture BS and then they made memes turn into "you are either one of us so you'll understand and laugh it or you are a loser yo" and then these "losers" shot down in these social medias cried hard and gather around Twitter, Instagram and Tiktok to produce their own brain dead memes that doesn't have to be funny but you should act you get it despite it's just stupid so there is nothing to get and you should act like it's the most funny shit you ever saw for the sake of "normalcy" and followers lolol.

I was on the Resident Evil Reddit in 2021 excited for Village when the influx of this degeneracy came bursting in. Every post was nothing more than degenerate, overly sexualised simping for this bloody vampiric BOW lady and her three sisters, and it was so irritating and disgusting to watch. I wound up quitting during the subreddit during that time, it was THAT bad. Oh, and Village itself? Probably one of the most disappointing games I've played and my second least-favourite of the mainline series barring Resident Evil 6 due to featuring the worst story and script of the lot. So putting up with this pathetic display of horny buffoonery wasn't even worth it.
