Mega Man Megathread

I wonder if the new Megaman game will add something new to the gameplay

I really want that Capcom finally move on with the Megaman goes to petty ass-chin only for him to do the "so sorry, i wont do it again (yeah right)" pose

But thats impossible. The most we may get are unlockable Protoman and Bass (maybe DLC, like Roll)
I hope yes
In the teaser is possible see megaman have some openings in his body, I think is the new gimmick of the game

Imma be honest, I forgot about Dual Override
just remembered it exists cause you mentioned it lmao

Maybe the name could gave a hint? Like why would it be called "Dual"
Also, Blues' whistle is heard at the end of the trailer, so at least he's gotta have some importance to the plot/gameplay
maybe a MegaMan 10 like thing again where the two are playable, idk

As long they dont make him show up only to give Megaman information about stuff, im happy

A chance to play as Protoman, Bass and Roll is the only extra stuff they could add to the game since the devs refuse to create another important robot ally that isnt a pet animal or a robot assit

Even tho Dr.Light (hell, any other robot creator out there) can make more robots to help but keeps giving Megaman all the job

But then again, when one keeps in mind how the robot world never made anything new after Light and ass-chin deaths.... even after MANY years as show at the start of Megaman X when the last robot of Light was still too advanced after the time-skip (how is this possible, i dont know)

I wonder if the new Megaman game will add something new to the gameplay.
You mean like the Gear System of 11? I agree.

On the other hand I wouldn't want an annoying gimmick nobody has asked for just for the sake of making it different. Classic MM can be experimental but fundamentally the game should keep its essence.

Megaman without Dr. Wily as the main villain wouldn't be a proper Megaman the same way Bowser and Robotnik are the main antagonists of Mario and Sonic respectively...

However a small twist like when Wily was pretending to be a good guy in the start of MM3 or when you thought he was dead by the end of 4 before revealing that Cossack wasn't the actual villain wouldn't be bad.

They could just put it as a joke. Something is wrong for X reason, Megaman goes to fight Wily and find out he doesnt have money to mess with robots for now. Maybe next time

Then the reveal that someone else is behind the whole incident

Proto Man and Dr. Light are unreasonaly small on The Wily Wars lol.
Also i feel that the Wily Wars is somewhat underrated. I mean, i prefer playing the MD version of Mega Man 1 & 3 than the NES ones due to some changes that makes the games more enjoyable to me (Mega Man 2 doesn't change too much on Wily Wars).

Wily wars is a great collection, for me is the same in NES version, obviously have better graphics, I like both versions but I'm not a fan of Mega drive sounfont, so I prefer play the NES version only for ost

I agree that the NES OST are better but Wily Wars have minor lag and a few glitches solved so i prefer the Wily Wars in the playable environment.

I feel like this one got overshadowed by Genesis platformers because WW is a NES game at its core.

Maybe it's also because the NES ost and sfx are also too iconic.

Funny how Legends is the only game that lacks the petty crazy copy of Wily. Instead we got the last humans being even more racist of their own creations and a big ass machine station in space created to reset the planet for the humans return

At least Trigger creator made a take back at last minute and we got the new Blue.... driller(?) of that generation

The again, the petty mantle does end with his sister who was jealous of him because their creator didnt notice her like she wanted (missing the point of why because she is more of a robot than Trigger, who does more than just follow orders)

So.... yeah. The whole Megaman universe is ruined by the power of absolute petty order

Remember the golden age of videogames when devs wanted their ips to show up everywhere possible even if it was a crazy idea for being a thing

Thanks to that we got stuff like Battle & Chase, the Power Battle and..... Megaman Soccer....

Yeah.... there is always the one that is way out

Btw i just got struck some inspiration while taking a dump

A survival horror game based on mmz timeline was gonna be cool.
I mean imagine instead of a war reploid you play as a normal reploid outside from the resistance area and you'll be trying to survive againts neo arcadia relentless hunts

as for the boss idk maybe we can just throw some mechaloid like the golem.

Given how hated Legend was for the lack of real bosses and just very boring robots, i dont think so

Not to mention how being a reploid outside of the city is the same as being a Maverick and target for destruction since no one can be outside with hope of survival at all (unless they are part of Zero team, and even them end up wity lots of downs here and there)

hmmm now that you say that yeah it would be boring '>'

Valid tho

but still i do think it should work if we make the entire experience purely horror. But i doubt people will play it since it became too far from any megaman formula and even if you make it purely horror making the maverick hunter to looks scary will be a hard things to do.

I find the soccer one funny. It reminds me of that one Kunio kun game.

Battle & Chase only problem was that they removed the race and pre-boss commentary

The game had little to be translated and yet they decided to remove stuff that at least give it more life

They did made Duo be unlocked in-game, but the rest feels empty

It took until X6 lazy release that they finally get that no one mind the jap voice in their games (and could had been awesome for Megaman 8 and X4....)

I played X8 and X7 today so here's what I thought about those two.
To get straight to the point Megaman X7 sucks balls, the terrible voice acting makes the game funny, The Mavericks stages are terrible for example Radio Tower feels like the same stage as infinity mijinion's stage from X6 only with the illusion that that Tornado Tonion's stage has more going on. This game also feels cheap and not in the good way because while this was glaring problem since X5 had those cheap looking cutscenes, X6 having the same problem to an lesser extent then X7 has cheap DS cutscenes mixed with low budget 3D cutscenes and combined with cheap looking models gives us one of the cheapest low budget games ever made. To add on to this point the maverick intros for X7 aren't even animated. As for playable I don't like Axl for him feeling like a worse MegaMan X and Zero isn't as good as he was in X4 and X isn't playable until you rescue 64 Reploids and it'll be way too late to use X at that since by then you'll be well into the late to even use X, The last two Red alart stages aren't any better if you’re wondering with the last stage dragging on for way too long. Overall this game sucks, truly an E Rank game if I say so myself, moving on to X8.

As for the Megaman X8 portion of this review, this is an ok game, It has soild controls and good combat, although I don't like most of the maverick stages in X8, aside from Booster Forest (Bamboo Pandamonium) I've the rest of the maverick stages were boring or too gimmicky for my liking, for example Optic Sunflower has rooms where you complete challenges for a high rank, I don't find these very engaging because you mostly fight those Q type enemies in this game.

On the opposite too gimmicky stage are something similar to Avalanche Yeti where you are on a ride chaser the whole time which this one isn't as gimmicky as Dynasty where it's another ride chaser only this time you shoot down the main boss maverick of this level in a chase. Overall X8 is an ok game, it's not some terrible abomination such as X5, X6 or X7 but it doesn't feel as fun as the first four X games (those being X1,X2,X3 and X4). That's about it, see ya. (If you wondering I didn't brother getting to the last few levels in the game, those being Jakob Orbital Elevator, Gateway, Sigma Palace because I wasn't motivated enough to make to that point in X8)

Side Note: Axl has to be one of my least favorite X series characters because I find him hilariously annoying in X7 and I don't like playing as him using his copy chip in either X7 or X8, adding on top of that Axl just randomly walking up to Lumine after the final battle against Lumine at the end of X8, which just adds to my further dislike of him. (Note: I know there's X Command Mission but I don't care too much for that game since I thought it was just Fine, since I've got no strong feelings about it.)

Agree that X8 is okay
Did you play vanilla X7 or the patched/fixed version?

I wouldn’t advise wasting your time, he’s discussing an ancient forum troll post from Seth Killian (former Capcom employee, infamous for being a bit of a troll), nothing was found while datamining, this is another one of those “single sentence stretched to 10 minutes for ad revenue” vids, the guy even tells you to subscribe halfway to attempt a challenge that doesn’t exist. Mega man fans are definitely in their gta 6 phase where they’re starving for new content so bad they’re discussing these Easter bunnies that straight up don’t exist, kinda shallow on this guy’s part. I don’t approve.
Cowabummer..

I wish it was called Overdrive instead of Override.
Easy on the tongue.
