Mega Man Megathread

Powered Up was also the "first of many" that they had plans for the classic era. But the chibi look ended making people ignore the fact that it was a solid remake with crap tons of extras and replayable as much as one wants with the custom stages

Powered Up was the one that got it bad. Even when you keep in mind that megaman isnt really like X, so a SD style megaman goes fine with him (again, fans and the sales seems to say otherwise)
Oh so it was the same thing with Zelda Wind Waker where people didn't want chibi style back?

Is more about how people didnt like how it looks: 3D Chibi..... even if megaman looks like a kid since day 1....., cover overly cute and calling it Rockman Rockman in jap (the last one was the only thing i call lazy bout it)

Also, not many like SD style even if the game is solid

Megaman just isnt like the super robot games where the fandom is ok with it as long the game is hard and have the cameo of many series in it

I think that's probably because of the American audience...

Powered Up could had done better if the game was released in other consoles and not just the PSP

That alone was the reason the game sales where low. Game was solid, just the money they wanted didnt fall thanks to be an exclusive of the PSP

In my humble opinion they should've gone for the full trilogy since Megaman 2 was a fan favourite and that Willy War was a "16-bits remake" of the trilogy when this one only had the first entry.

Yes, they've added two new Robot Masters to make it feel more "complete" but people probably expected more for a handheld console that was more powerful than the DS with actual discs instead of Flash memory.

But I agree, what prevented them from making a DS port? Even if graphically it would end up in low poly.

I also assume that since PSP players were usually older the chibi style would've been more at home for the DS userbase.

Mega Man Dual Override announced during The Game Awards. 2027 release date.
Available on Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS4, Xbox, and PC via Steam.
