Feel free to talk about anything connected to our favorite blue robot/Reploid/NetNavi/whatever here. All series are welcome.
What are you cooking?I’ll kick things off with a quick ranking of the classics. This’ll take a few minutes…
Oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii…well damnMight no9 is the best Megaman game
Are you a psychic? This ranking is almost exactly the same as mine, except I would put X2 higher and MM10 and X4 at the very bottom with MM9, X6 and X7.I’ve decided to include X. Not only would this be a nice way to state my position on both given that I love both (and they also belong in the same conversation due to similar structure that zero doesn’t have because his games are more exploration and lite rpg based) but it will also make some games that will rank low look better considering I love nearly all classic games, but I bet the bottom one will seem like I hate it which I don’t. Anyways here goes.
1- Megaman & Bass
2- Megaman 4
3- Megaman 3
4- Megaman 10
5- Megaman 1
6- Megaman 2
7- Megaman X1
8- Megaman X4
9- Megaman 5
10- Megaman 6
11- Megaman X2
12- Megaman 11
13- Megaman 7
14- Megaman X3
15- Megaman X8
16- Megaman 8
17- Megaman X5
18- Megaman 9
19- Megaman X6
20- Megaman X7
I actually finished MML a few days ago. It was good, but the controls were really rough and I found the plot to be boring and meandering until the very end. I also didn't enjoy all the grinding for weapon upgrades, so I only used Vacuum Arm and Machine Buster for the lake boss.I'll forever be a Mega Man Legends apologist.
Game was awesome through and through, and so was The Misadventures Of Tron Bonne.
Legends might grow on you like it did with me. It’s a game I did feel lukewarm on but grew to appreciate over time. Definitely deserves a remaster even now.Are you a psychic? NGL, the controls have aged so poorly that it was almost a deal-breaker for me... but hence my post. Are you a psychic? This ranking is almost exactly the same as mine, except I would put X2 higher and MM10 and X4 at the very bottom with MM9, X6 and X7.

I remember reading somewhere that Capcom used to have a so-called "5% rule", where they would only make sequels better by 5 percent. I don't know if it's actually true, but if it is, it would explain a lot.I'm gonna be a burr in the saddle and say it's the original Ubisoft franchise!
Mega Man II was an early favorite of mine, the title screen tune was my favorite thing to come out of an NES. Then as endless sequels seemed to come out, I'd play them at my cousins and be disappointed. Mario 3 got so much better, what was Mega Man's problem?
Then we got an SNES at my house and Mega Man X was Everything. (Also the cartoon was coming out, and the hints of a dark collapse leading to the future of X tickled me) This was the evolution, the Real Sequel, Baby.....cut to five more installments that got worse with each release. (I haven't played X7, so I can't say.)
Obviously folks *do* like it, for me the problem is formula. The platforming is just okay (but the dash boots really improved that), and the shooting is no Contra but the weapons are fun. It's just too much repetition, the games are visually impressive, particularly where the bosses are concerned, but mechanically it's the same thing over and over, with the occasional inspired level design.
Nowadays, I kinda wish they'd do spinoffs with that great sprite work they do, like an SRPG with the Maverick Hunters from the X games. I was always dying to see how that organization looked day to day, but the plot of every game is them collapsing or turning on X and Zero, like the CIA or IMF in a Mission Impossible movie.
The endless dance from Street Fighter II to III sure felt that way, as a kid we'd joke they'll just keep adding words to the name. Street Fighter II Alpha Premium Double Secret Probation Champion Edition being my buddy's favorite.I remember reading somewhere that Capcom used to have a so-called "5% rule", where they would only make sequels better by 5 percent. To be honest, a lot of my dislike for MM10 (and MM9, for that matter) comes from my general disdain for Inti Creates.@fake id also like to leave a brief general comment about MM10. It feels like a game with no defenders. Yes it has no haters, which is good, but it’s the only Megaman game with no defense squad.
Think about it.
A Megaman game with no defense squad is like a sonic game with no apologists. It almost doesn’t exist.
I believe recency might be the culprit, since it came really really late into the franchise so a lot of its ideas seemed unimpressive and I can agree there, but I still find it a really engaging game. Pumpman stage was the first Megaman level I’ve ever no-damaged from beginning to end so I have a lot of fond memories for it. Not to mention, Nitroman might have my favorite stage theme in the series.
By the by, SF2 is, historically speaking, possible the longest game in industry history in terms of game between its “default” and “latest enhanced edition”. Enhanced in this context referring to something that’s not a remaster, remake or release, literally something that builds on a game that’s already there. How long we talking? 26 years. With the OG SF2 coming out in March 1991 and its “latest update”, Ultra SF2, coming out in May 2017. So yeah. The endless dance from Street Fighter II to III sure felt that way, as a kid we'd joke they'll just keep adding words to the name. That’s definitely fair. I’ve come to dislike inti as well.To be honest, a lot of my dislike for MM10 (and MM9, for that matter) comes from my general disdain for Inti Creates.
I also didn't like how they treated Bass in the game.

At the risk of coming off as an ignorant baboon, might I ask why? Did they do something wrong? I enjoyed MM9 and 10 as much as the next guy – the former was better – but I've never really played any of the team's other games and know nothing about them beyond their work with Mega Man.I’ve come to dislike inti as well.
I just don't think their Mega Man games are all that good. For MM9 and MM10, I disliked characters' OOC characterizations as well, but that's my pet peeve as an overly obssessive fan.At the risk of coming off as an ignorant baboon, might I ask why?
