Hi everyone,
I found the following Github project (https://github.com/Normmatt/Medarot-Navi-GBA-Translation) while searching through Google.
This project appears to contain everything that is needed to finish it,
- a VWF (Variable Font Width) hack,
- a Menu translation,
- a table for text dumping,
- and the fully dumped japanese script with pointers and strings dumped already - and ready to insert the english equivalents (they're in asm/script)
According to the instructions here: (https://github.com/Normmatt/F-Zero-Climax-GBA-Translation) - one uses these files by placing the Medarot Navi inside the rom folder and naming it input.gba. Then, one runs the build.bat script if you are on windows, otherwise run build.sh. The rom will be modified according to whatever work has been done to the files.
All done by Normmatt and Tobias21 (thanks to them for this and full credit to them for their amazing work) - I can't find contact details for them via Github, nor any leads for contacting.
Additionally, the script, with pointers, has been translated (by a person?) already: (https://medarot.meowcorp.us/wiki/Medapedia:Medarot_Navi_Translation_Project) However, please be careful when entering the site, as my Antivirus didn't like it.
The project has not been touched for 8? years, but, I'm wondering,
Would someone who knows about coding be interested in finishing applying the human translation in the Wiki to the game? Or asking AI to help in doing so? It even has a VWF code apparently, so its (almost) ready.
Please do let me know if this sounds feasible, as I have wanted to play this game for many years, and finding all this work already done is almost a call to see it finished.
I have opened a similar thread in Romhacking.net: https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=41434.0
