Does anyone remember a time when there was a theme of these first person mecha games that had you going though corridors, while not intently trying to be creepy, the overall vibe and atmosphere give that off, anyone ever felt this?

Very specific genre that even I for once am uninitiated with. Closest I have are the enclosed sections in Jumping Flash (2-3 and ESPECIALLY 4-2) but this is far from being a horror game

Other than that, there's only 0-S from Ultrakill but that's a single level (and later a troll cameo in another of the levels)

I'll check out the games listed when I free up storage

Despite their age these games are still great.
I mean i'm a retro gamer so age is no deterrent. I just know sometimes a game can look like the coolest shit but turn out to be mediocre so i'm always cautious.

Not really mecha by definition so it probably doesn't count but the closest I can think of to this are the Space Hulk games (no, not the green dude).

Most of these games were made by the company Genki around the same time: Kileak, Epidemic (which is Kileak 2 in Japan), Robotica (aka Daedalus) (co-developed w/ Micronet, but all the key staff is Genki), BRAMHA Force.

They were basically their attempts at launching first-person shooters in Japan in the mid-90s. Media.Vision of Wild ARMs fame did the same thing with Crime Crackers, though the vibe was more lighthearted, and even Jumping Flash had these sections. Basically, now that consoles could do 3D, they thought FPS might catch on in Japan, or Japanese companies could sell these games overseas. Japan had a first-person dungeon-crawler tradition since Wizardry had a fanbase there, and they like mecha more than marines and stuff, so it made sense to lump these things together.

I've played Kileak. The atmosphere is nice but the gameplay is mediocre.

They seem targeted to a very specific audience, never heard of them. Might as well give them a try just for the sake of trying stuff!
