Got it the other day and I'm almost done with it. Doesn't hold up very well vs Turtles in Time (Arcade/SNES) or Shredders Revenge (made by the same company!). In comparison to really good Beat 'Em Ups like Dragons' Crown or Ninja Saviors it doesn't even hold a candle to them. It's pretty much a boilerplate game with a few issues. Namely character depth and problems where grapple characters can't grab bosses or certain types of enemies reducing their damage options to only one form of attack. Streets of Rage 4 had some issues, too. But, I would say this is probably the highest profile beat em up in the last few years that landed this flat footed. Possibly some DLC and balance patches/enhancements might make it a better experience. But as of right now it's not very fun. Also, certain characters have quite a bit more depth to them than others. Captain America and Wolverine have command grabs, multiple counters, chainable strings, and spammable specials that allow for something almost resembling a normal beat em up character. Iron Man and Venom are so shallow they're reminiscent of an old NES title.
For examle your average character has one hit string, one charge attack, one jump, one air attack, and a long range move that has regenerating ammo and then they'll either dodge or block. The variances that come up are how fast the long range attack regenerates or if it's a static projectile that returns, the ability to grapple, and the ability to fly. Even with the best combos of those traits and two characters at a time system that the game uses. You're looking at a very shallow experiance. In comparison to something like Dragons Crown where one character can perform more actions than the entire roster of this game put together. And, that's before leveling, too. Or, a game like Ninja Saviors where one of the five characters can perform half of the roster what what this game does in one character.
TLDR: The game is too shallow.
