Mobile games can be good. Mobile games also need to be made for mobile initially. Action games are not generally good mobile games.

In this thread, we will make fun of terrible iOS ports. Please note: some of these games may be impressive for the hardware! Doesn’t mean they weren’t also horrible ideas that never should have been made.

I’ll start with the fabled… the maligned…

Devil May Cry 4 Refrain. Yes, the combo heavy game that requires precise inputs and responsive controls was ported to the iPhone 4’s “lovely” touch screen. It looks like a DS version, which is cool, but becomes substantially less cool when you remember that this is the only portable Devil May Cry ever made.

The title is too accurate: they should have refrained from making this game.

Resident Evil 4 (2005) on Mobile. It’s so bad it’s hilarious. It looks like a PS1 demake of the game. Also this port is literally a Java phone game hastily ported to iOS and Android. Also this port did so well that it was even on the infamous Zeebo. I also heard that in older versions of this port, the music was just MIDI garbage and not the actual music from the game. Also the Zeebo version doesn’t even have the entire game, it ends in the middle of the Castle level.

The iOS port of UMK3 had nearly unplayable controls, a game breaking bug with the Motaro fight, and incredibly cursed 3D models instead of the original digitized sprites, which lost some of the charm of the original.

I know I played it when it came out. Not my most proud gaming moment. Heck the graphics even looks like what if DMC was released on PS1.

MegaMan X got a port that redrew all the sprites in a very cheap looking way and seemingly halved the frame rate. It feels like they were putting in effort, since redrawing everything is a lot of work, but the effort was limited by time and money resulting in what feels like a bootleg you get in those cheap knockoff consoles.

Not a port but
If everyone hates Breath of Fire VI, I’m one of them
If one person hates Breath of Fire VI, I’m that one
If no one hates Breath of Fire VI, I’m dead
If everyone loves Breath of Fire VI, I’m against the world
If everyone but one person loves Breath of Fire VI, I’m the one person
