This is, hands down, the coolest "extra" I have ever gotten with a book.

I mean... A whole Spotify playlist with a QR code you can scan and composed entirely of songs whose titles and vibes match the chapters themselves? Hard to top that.

I actually don't think that Sofia LaPuente and Jarrod Shusterman had written a great book with "Retro", but you can't deny they were very passionate about it... And that's half the damn battle right there.

They would definitely not all fit on a tape casette XD my tapes are only about 45 minutes per side.
It feels bit generic with some of the songs, but I agree that it's a great extra!

Back when i used to write I would make playlists for all of my characters to get their vibe down- but then I realized what I really wanted to do was write music so I unfortunately ditched the whole "writing a book" thing, lol

Speaking from experience, there are cassette tapes which hold 60+ minutes per side! They were more common in the late 90s and early 2000s. I had a few made by Sony.

The tradeoff? The tape tended to be a little thinner, to accommodate fitting more on the reel. This made the fidelity take a little hit, and also made the tape more brittle and prone to snapping. Again, speaking from experience 😩

I remember the pain of losing 4 seconds of audio on a side permanently because you had to cellotape the reel back together well. And if it was a data tape (thinking ZX Spectum) you were royally boned.
