Xbox360 exclusive JRPG released in 2007 with many interesting things in this production.

From the director/creator of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi, and with music by Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu.

Very stable framerate and practically removes the loading times which was a huge issue on the original 360 release.

Also the main character designs are from the same artist Takehiko Inoue. This game is a build up of big names and a huge try to create an everlasting gem for Xbox 360, what's also beautiful is that the character very much reminds me of Musashi. He is an immortal and has lived over 1000 years and has the presence, that took Musashi years of training, fighting and spending time on the farm before gaining such wisdom. There are visual novel sequences where the main character has memories come back to him, and they're all written very beautifully that can touch your inner heartstrings.

Manga readers who are familiar with Inoue's work will understand completely what i am trying to achieve by typing words on my computer. Also a lot things in common between Kaim and Musashi, one is literally immortal and laments the fact as a huge burden because he has seen countless lives born and pass away over his thousand year life, and the other spends so much of his life trying to become "invincible under the sun".
Set in a world in which a "Magic-Industrial Revolution" is taking place, while magic energy existed in all living creatures beforehand, it suddenly became far more powerful thirty years before the beginning of the game. Because of this, it has affected society greatly, with devices called "Magic Engines" harnessing this power for lighting, automobiles, communication, and robots, among other uses. While previously only a select few could wield magic, many magicians gained the ability, but such progress has also caused two nations to develop new and more powerful weapons of mass destruction: the kingdom of Gohtza and the Republic of Uhra (which recently converted from a monarchy). Uhra is building Grand Staff, a gigantic magic engine, while the heavily industrialized Gohtza actively pursues magic research of their own. A third nation, the Free Ocean State of Numara, remains isolated and neutral, though it is falling into disarray due to a general attempting to stage a coup d'etat. Uhra, at war with Khent, a nation of beastmen, sends its forces to the Highlands of Wohl for a decisive battle at the start of the game.

Sure there are a lot reviews out there that mark some of the things that could be better in this game like combat and exploration but I think if you liked Final Fantasy and you are a fan of manga Vagabond this is a must play.

The game was localized into multiple languages but all the lip syncing was for the English dialogue. This was done partly to show western audiences appreciation for their support of the title, and also because Japanese audiences had grown used to out of sync dialogue with dubbed Western films.

When you like something you keep digging in it, doesn't matter what others say. Thank you for reading until my next Thread, see you.

The first time Sakaguchi actually made a strong wave since leaving Square and proved that he still had it in him to make legendary JRPGs. Sure he already made a few games before with his Mistwalker team like Blue Dragon series, Archaic Sealed Heat and The Last Story, but none of them made such a long lasting impact as this one.

And it helped that almost everything from story, designs and gameplay felt pretty excellent and reminiscing from the golden era of PSX FFs as well. Meanwhile, at the same time Square flunked their reception and starting their eventual downfall due to Final Fantasy XIII so it made Lost Odyssey even more famous as the game that felt way more like FF than the current FF.

Great writeup, hope to see more.

Never Owned, always on the lookout for it cause i want to play it. I really hope it gets a gog.com or steam version at some point

What a wonderful gem of a game. Kinda wish Takehiko Inoue would've developed some more artwork for video games, over the years...

Then again, what I REALLY would want is for Vagabond to leave hiatus, but I haven't been catching up with the news, so...

Great work up, I actually just picked up the game the other day, haven't played it yet, looks great and your work up makes me really want to play it

Great game, still available on the xbox store, and normally at a fairly cheap price. Well worth the purchase, as is Blue Dragon and Resonance of Fate, although RoF is on Steam in 4k.

Top 5 JRPG for me. Also one of my favorite games ever. Amazing visuals for the time, writing, characters (I love Seth Balmore's design), soundtrack, and good turn-based combat. This and The Last Story are my two favorite Mistwalker games -- though Fantasian and Blue Dragon are pretty fantastic, too. I also have a soft spot for AWAY: Shuffle Dungeon on the DS.

I'm glad I imported a physical copy of End of Eternity 4K for around $40 before the price skyrocketed.

Blue Dragon Plus on the DS is surprisingly good.

Is this sentence lacking some context?
Perhaps it means playing it on the Xbone/series
