Hello!

A lot of people enjoy playing video games, and I wanted to start this thread so we can share our personal experiences with different games. Whether it's a game you absolutely love, one you regret buying, or even one that completely surprised you, I’d love to hear about it!

Lately, I’ve been playing the same old games, and it's starting to feel a bit repetitive. I’m hoping to discover some hidden gems or exciting titles I haven’t tried yet.

So, what are some games that left a lasting impression on you? Let’s get a discussion going and help each other find our next favorite game!

Hope this thread gets noticed by the community. Looking forward to your replies!

Mother 3 was an absolute game changer for me honestly. Insanely good ost for a gba title, vibrant and colourful graphics, an emotional rollercoaster of a story and characters that keep you invested. It's got a good sense of humour too, and the enemy designs are FANTASTIC! A must play IMO, really defined my mid teen years.

A few games that left a lasting impression on me are Red Dead Redemption 2 for its storytelling, Hollow Knight for its deep combat and world building, and Stardew Valley which is surprisingly addictive. For hidden gems, I would strongly recommend Outer Wilds. It is one of those rare experiences that stays with you long after you finish it.

I recommend playing at least one "Neptunia" game (I guess on any console of choice because there are so many ports): the dialogue can be really funny, I found myself laughing if one can take them for what they are. Right now I'm playing the spin-off "vs sega girl" on Vita, but I've already played two spin-off and one of the main series.

I couldn't click with Metroidvanias when I was very young. Played some Metroid Fusion and Super growing up via Virtual Console, but never really got into the series until a couple of years ago.
What made me really resonate with the genre was Igarashi's Castlevania games, particularly Aria of Sorrow. With most of them being on handhelds, they're very comfortable to go through. But of course, if there's any place to start, Symphony of the Night is a classic for a reason. That game still has some of my favorite sprite work ever.
The classic Castlevania games are good, too. I highly recommend Rondo of Blood, especially if you're interested in Symphony of the Night. It's Symphony of the Night's direct predecessor in terms of story, and is home to some of the best mechanics the series introduced up to that point. Essentially Castlevania's Sonic Mania, or Greatest Hits as I like to call it. I recommend finding an english patch that carries over the voice acting from the PSP release. I didn't like the relocalization they did for Symphony, but Rondo of Blood's english localization is hilarious.

Some games I can think of are Elona, Cataclysm, and yume 2kki. Those are available for free and have a lot in them. Mine Blocks by Zanzlanz is also a fun hour or 2 if you want to try that out. For the games that aren't there's Touhou Diablo Treasure Hunter G. Labyrinth of Touhou was fun too, but it might take some setting up so that it doesn't crash when starting it up (Both of those games have english patches). The toree games are short but fun, and on steam they usually go for a dollar. On itch, some of them can just be downloaded for free. Kero Blaster can also be surprisingly fun too. One last game that is worth checking out is Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia. For that matter anything Megaten related too since the gameplay is pretty much that.

One game that has just taken over my life at this point is Terraria. I keep playing that game when I don't know what to play. It gets even better with mods, but I recommend at least one vanilla run. While skimming through the games on my PC it's the only game that has over 500 hours put into it.

Mega Man games are pretty good platformer games. You can use the abilities of the bosses that you defeat and that makes variety on the gameplay.
