Looking for games like Star Wars: KOTOR with meaningful dialogue choices and NPC interactions

You could always play KOTOR II with the removed content patch, adds a lot of the stuff from development that was left in the files. Makes the game a bit better. I still like both though. Definitely play Mass Effect 1-3 and Dragon Age Origins.
IDK, I already have KOTOR 1 at home so how different KOTOR 2 can be from the game I played like 2 decades ago IDK. The issue of the game was the clear generic copy-paste to sell quickly before popularity of the first game would die. They didn't care what they doing, they just release a rubbish so IDK how the patch can fix lack of vision empty mess of a game it's so after all these years it make me think this lol:

I may have played the released unfinished mess state so we didn't even had an ending. Suddenly boss fight and plot twist and credits rolled lol. So even they may have added an ending and added some cool side content but I don't think it can fix generic mess of an empty game to make it satisfactory especially compared to KOTOR 1. But still if I ever crave for RPG I may play it, why not. Better than rubbish Mass Effect and Dragon Age games lol.

It's a sequel of course it's going to play the same, but as far as writing and dialog goes (which is what this thread is about) KOTOR 2 is way better. KOTOR 1 is the solid typical Star Wars story while KOTOR 2 is the ambitious story that tries to do something new with the setting. I also think it's unfair to call it a remake because the narrative and overall atmosphere of KOTOR 2 is so difference then the first game that it's totally possible for someone who didn't care for the first game to like it.
Mhm you are right. But was it a "sequel"? I don't remember. In my mind it was a side trivial story.

But yes, I remember KOTOR 1 was more like a Star Wars game but KOTOR 2 was more about a game take place in Star Wars universe so yeah people can "enjoy" it, especially with that patch thingy otherwise original state of the game made me throw the game out out of window because I love the play a game of which rubbish game I threw will go fartest lol. Empty games goes farther!!! lolol

That is true KOTOR 1 is the more polished game.

Yeah, maybe the first few hours it looks like its going to be really similar, but when it takes off its feels like a fairly fresh take on star wars setting. With the restored content mod I actually like it more overall than the first game.

KOTOR II was only 60% of the stuff they had developed for it, LucasArts rushed Obsidian to put the game out before one of the movies I forget which. The game is waaaaay different with the Restored Content Mod. It's genuinely recommended to play it first time with it because of how much it brings back from development. Aspyr was even meant to port it to Switch and Android but never did because they're a trash dev, and Disney even took them off the KOTOR 1 Remake. I think you'd like it more with the mod, it even restores the endings that they wanted to have.

Been seeing a lot of YouTube recommendations about these 2. The only thing I know is that they are very popular in eastern europe apparently. but I know nothing about how the game plays
As far as I remember: These games nothing like JRPG or even western RPGs. Instead whole deal of these games are story and your choices and thus enjoying the journey and characters, but then simulator aspect of the gameplay attracts people too.

Gameplay is different as in instead of simple EXP system you learn skills by directly from the master. It's similar like Breath of Fire 4 but Gothic games are "Dark Souls" of west as in the game push you for self improvement without the ease of EXP grind, instead you can only improve yourself by teachers and life choices you make.

It gives you a sense of "wow I'm like living my virtual life" perhaps way more than even Sims games, and then the games goes beyond a "RPG". You are thrown into cruel world and unlike Dark Souls games you cannot grind EXP to "get good" as it's not "skill issue". There is no importance of players' learning curve, you gotta make your "nobody" character into a survivor.

However my best example of how these games are is, learning skills like Breath of Fire 4 in The Elder Scrolls Morrowind like game but it's cruel as much as Way of the Samurai games can be while you kinda have Star Wars KOTOR-like enjoying characters fun.
