I'm looking for a digimon game on ps2 to play. I was a fan of the anime as a kid but fell of it after the channel that was airing it in my country stopped

Digimon data squad

Well, depends on you actually.
  • Digimon Rumble Arena 2 might entertain you for a bit and is a good game but has very low stage variety so you will be looking at the same stages over and over, also, has a small selection of items and modifiers to spice up the games.
  • Digimon World 4 is somewhat of an adventure game, you get to choose one digimon and equip it with a sword, a dagger or a gun. The main hub is a mess and hard to navigate and equipping weapons is done at a shop in the hub instead of the inventory, which is annoying. Furthermore, in this game there is NO digievolution. You can actually digievolve your character but i think only once at a fixed point and is not like your character digievolves mid battle, the digievolution is a separate character that you have to level up. Don't take my word on it, it's been a long time. Might be more fun with a friend, since there is co-op
  • Digimon Data Squad is uncharted territory for me. I tried it and didn't like the battle system, if Yousef recommends it, it must have something else that i didn't see.

Thanks for the info I think I will try data squad for now and see what happens thanks again

Everyone already gave good suggestions. I'm going to add that the DS Digimon games are great (Lost Evolution got fan translated), even though this falls outside of the PS2 purview.

I'm open to all suggestions if you have any favorite game please tell

Yeah I really like the DS games. They are called Digimon Story, 3 games in all. The second has two versions, Pokémon style. If you want to pick just one, go with Lost Evolution, since it has the most Digimon out of that trilogy. Sprites and animation are really nice.

appreciate it thanks

One of the cool things is you can revert digvolutions and go through a different path. For some more advanced evolution paths that's even required.
So in the same run you can just backpedal your choices and continue the game or am I thinking wrong

The evolution choices? yeah. These games have something called potential. When you make a Digimon unevolve the level resets and they get bigger bonuses for leveling again.

So I evolve a digimon from level 5 to level 10 then unevolve it to level 5 and grind till i evolve it again but it's now level 11

Excuse the leveling percentage it's just for reference

If we’re going with Digimon games in general cyber sleuth is fantastic too. It’s on all modern systems

Thanks but right now I'm stuck on mobile and emulating for games since my laptop is broken but I will try it when it gets fixed

Cyber Sleuth is amazing, but it needs to be said that some of the versions have an extremely annoying microstutter problem. On PC you need to use a custom loader to get rid of it, no idea how it performs on consoles.

On ps4 and switch it was fantastic for me

Not quite, it will still be level 10 at that same point in time, but with much higher stats. See some evolution branches require higher stats or specific type experience. You get type experience by beating Digimon of that type. So say your Digimon requires 50 strength and 200 machine experience to unlock an evolution option. By de-evolving and beating machine types, you can reach those figures. Leveling normally also raises stats, but de-leveling and re-leveling makes them raise higher.

Oh I get it now I will check it out as soon as possible thanks a lot

I guess it's just the PC port that is shoddy, on par sadly LOL.
I know how it be. Japanese devs are notoriously awful with pc ports ?

They were... Vita games originally, I think? I wonder how it emulates these days.
It’s actually probably better to emulate them. They’re a bit uhhh how do I say this, slow?
I don’t mean like, game-feel wise I mean almost everything takes really long. Even a simple dialogue box.
