Lighthouse

Don't know if it counts as art, but growing up with manga I always wanted to tell my own stories. I never had the confidence to learn to draw though, but I did have a strong vocabulary, so inspired (in part) by the narrative of Alan Wake in 2010 (along with the tidbit of him being a writer too) I started to write my own novels heavily inspired by anime and videogames.

A series I am currently writing (working on the 6th volume) where I don't really have a definitely end goal but just keep writing as long as cool ideas come to mind, is especially heavily inspired by Kingdom Hearts, what with its themes about light and the strength of the heart and friendship.

It is called "Fyrtårn" (litt. "Lighthouse" in Danish) and sees a young boy get bestowed with a magic heart of light from the top of a lighthouse. In the first volume he then has to learn to use these powers as he, along with the friends he picks up, has to prepare for a war against dark forces.

2nd volume focuses on his son going through his own trials and tribulations as well as learning about his heritage while his estranged brother tries to foil him.

3rd book (spoiler) centers on the brother (post villain) as he comes to terms with his own inner demons and learns to forgive and accept himself, as these turmoils stand between him and saving the world.

4th book brings the first main character back along with his sons, and sees the trio with their angel- and valkyrie powers, once again stand up against a force of evil that threatens the very fabric of existence.

5th book (released this winter) sees the first main character embark on a new adventure alone, where he has to find a new source of power, since the heart that was given to him in the first book was sacrificed in the 4th book to re-create the universe.
In this volume the series title is then brought more into play than ever, as the story centers around people with magical lighthouses inside their souls, that become both a source of power and a symbol of purity. The deal being that while everyone is born with a lighthouse in their soul, most lose them as adults due to the corruption of their surroundings, that make them lose sight of their innocent light.

MC is thus bestowed with a new lighthouse by the same man who originally gave him the heart, and he must thus this time embark on a journey to the light kingdom of Pangaea to turn it on and realize its true powers by gathering the essences of four arch angels, in a race against his evil alterego from an erased timeline who seeks access to the Garden of Eden via the Tower of Babel, which he needs the five "legendary lighthouses" to control, incl the one MC has.

Yeah I don't really have an audience at the moment, aside from the bloggers I have sent free review copies, but in my optique writing fiction is something you do out of passion, not because you hope to get rich. That would be a nice bonus, but it shouldn't be your drive. That's also how I have made it to the 6th book, it is all self-financed.

I know :-( From what I can see though they have only reviewed the first book.

On the positive side there is a blogger on instagram who has just finished my newest book and genuinely loved the series so far :)

(also f*ck I didn't realize I would be giving my real name by giving the name of my series xD ...unless I am really using a pen name!! Muahahaha!!)
