It probably is more in "This is not exactly Nier: Automata" category. Not bad not great games. Which are fine games.

Pinocchio for SNES. - Childhood Nostalgia.
Lion King on SNES - Childhood Nostalgia.
Treasure Planet for PS1: Childhood Nostlagia and appreciating every genuine PS1 game my mother bought me including Guilty Gear 1.
Aladdin for Mega Drive: Like just about everyone everywhere ever, appreciating the fact that actual Disney animators were working on it with the programming team to create genuine animation cells for the sprites, and creating at least visually one of the most impressive games on Mega Drive (Genesis), even though the game play might not be that special.

The 2007 Simpsons game, it kind of sucks but at least i have some good memories of playing it multiplayer with my family

i would say in terms of fanservice and seeing simpsons do a take on diff games it was really good, but if u want a simpsons game that truly lets u experince their world virtual springfield is a good one but hit and run does that and gives u good game too

While it is a bad Mario game, there are some parts that make it good. It has an arcade feel to it like Mario Bros, has the power-ups such as Mushrooms, fire flowers and 1up mushrooms, and getting 30 coins gives you an extra life which makes it fair than getting 100 coins like in every Mario game. Also, it has backtracking. (One of the CD-I controllers has a Sega Genesis style which is a better option to emulate the controls when having an 8BitDo SNES/PS4 style controller using X for A, Y for B, and B for C. So here's how to do the trick) For level select, hold Left and A or C to go back to a previous level, hold Right and A or C to go to the later levels, hold up and A or C to go back to the world/hotel select screen, and hold down and A or C to go to the save file to save your game. Now it doesn't have to be that bad, it's just challenging as you progress.

When it comes to Simpsons games, only 3 are good. Simpsons Arcade, Simpsons Hit & Run and The Simpsons Game. The rest are just plain awful. But, I find Bart's Nightmare an okay game. The controls are responsive, the animation isn't too bad, and gameplay is not as confusing as they say.

Another game that gets hated on, but what's decent about this is that it's little bit like a MetroidVania game before MetroidVania was invented. While the hit detection is terrible at times, the game has a short password system, unlimited continues, and secret rooms that have extra lives. While challenging, it's fine as it is.

Another bad Mario game? And it's the Lost Levels? I can understand that it's too hard and uses the same engine/assets from the first Super Mario Bros. game, but, what's wrong with having a challenge? Some of the levels in Lost Levels are easy such as 1-1, 1-2, 3-1, 3-4, 4-2, 5-2, 7-2 and 8-2. A few levels that require long jumps, strong winds, trampolines that launch you very high and land on a safe platform, warp pipes that lead you to a previous world, and poison mushrooms. But, what's wrong of going back to a previous world where you can get extra lives? I don't know. I just Mario fanatic who played this over 100 times and never get tired of it.

Not sure if lost levels, or Super Mario Bros. 2 JP counts. That is not licensed it was made by same people behind original. Hotel mario makes sense, but that one not as much. Doki Doki Panic would make sense as a thing to throw there but it is also a great game, as is SMB2. It is just hard because it was made for people that mastered SMB1.

Jaws (NES), Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure (NES), and Back to the Future (NES) are all terrible games that I owned as a kid and have a soft spot for. None are good, but I enjoy them. Same for The Incredible Crash Test Dummies on Game Boy.

@Jeff I love Bart's Nightmare, it's such a nostalgic game for me. It really is just ok, but lord knows I played the hell out of it when I was a kid.

My contribution to the thread will be this:

I love the show but the game is so incredibly mid. And it's really just the awkward controls that make it so (and the heat meter? forget about it)

Good sprite work saved it for me. I just wish Stargate could get a really good game one day.

It's an Action Platformer with incredibly janky, well, action and platforming, but I genuinely love it.
Still go back and play it every few years and have a good time, it feels like such a labour of love, for lack of a better term.

The soundtrack had such an impact on me as a kid that I once emailed the composer when I was a teenager to talk about much I adored it it, and he got so happy that he sent me the entire soundtrack digitally ::yay

I actually played that pink panther game for the ps1, it was kinda frustrating at times and the ending was a letdown , but it had some creative levels and fun gameplay and progression, the bosses on that game were great too, I enjoyed it a lot as a kid

Fester's Quest

Hardly the best game of Sunsoft and it feels like Blaster Master at home, but it is still a timewaster, ESPECIALLY the Europe port that make enemies less spongy and allows your shots to go through walls

Hardly a must play, it is still a nice game, especially since you never expected they would make Uncle Fester kill aliens Contra style

The Incredible Hulk for Sega Genesis and SNES, quite an alright action platformer but not perfect I like how you get hit as Bruce Banner you transform into the Hulk and revert back to Banner when you feel like it.

i would say the game if u revisit it now u would realize its not frustrating but piss ez,but in terms of capturing the looks and vibe of pink panther i would say its pretty good,i played the game alot on pc as a kid and im replaying it to do the cheevos set for it

Growing up as an "80's kid" and being there for the NES release, I have to say that we had a different perspective on those games when they came out. Games that are considered bad today may not have been considered as bad back then because the only thing we could compare it to was the Atari 2600 (or maybe ColecoVision if you knew someone that had one). So when new games came out for the NES I was still excited even if the game wouldn't be considered good. For example, I played Ikari Warriors for a very long time because it was kind of like the arcade in my house. In retrospect, the game is really bad but back then it was what we had and maybe we didn't know any better. Or, it was a hard game that required learning the game in order to progress and we were just stupid kids that never made it that far (I'm looking at you Legacy of the Wizard and Faxanadu).

So given that bit of reasoning, here are a few of the licensed games I distinctly remember playing that today are looked on differently than they did 40 years ago... Oh, and Back to the Future was terrible back then and continues to be still today

Yo! Noid仮面の忍者 花丸
Yo! Noid, known in Japan as Kamen no Ninja Hanamaru on NES/FC. The game was first released in Japan on March 16, 1990, and was localized in the United States to promote the Noid, the mascot of Domino's Pizza.

It's only got a 53% in game faqs but when I was growing up, this game was my absolute jam. I adored visiting everyones worlds, and I loved watching the little animations of the characters as I took their pictures such as Jenny flying by or Helga running about the windows. I filled the character photo album twice over and it encouraged me to look into Nicktoons that I had not heard of before such as Danny Phantom and My life as a Teenage Robot. Man, I went into other licensed games expecting this amount of love and was sadly disappointed each time.
