Just wondering if anyone could help with LG Smart TV about 2yrs old flickers randomly.
Ive recently setup Batocera on a mini PC and everything is working a treat except for the random TV picture flicks on and off. Ive tried many different refresh rates and played around with other settings, check my TV game settings and that seems to be ok but cant seem to nail the problem. Thanks

Have you tested the television with other devices? Other input ports or cables?

it's most likely worn out. newer tvs have been doing this. the screen lasts for a couple of years and then it starts to give out. hopefully the cables are just loose and need to be pushed back in, but start looking for a replacement just in case.

The TV is pretty good and in good condition, it runs the PS5 no probs and connects to laptops without any issue. Im pretty sure its the refresh rates but I dont know the best settings to use from Batocera

So the issue only happens in Batocera? What if you run something else on the mini PC like Jellyfin server, does it flicker when playing a movie from the mini-PC?

I'm trying to find if the cause is the software (Batocera) or the hardware.

yeah, that seems to be more likely the issue if other things can connect with no issue. i would check the website for that program and see if there's a section about that or ask on there if you can for more detailed info.

Do you have HDMI Deep Color enabled? Energy Saving Mode? Motion Eye Care/Auto Brightness?

thank you

yes as far as I can see..the TV comes with specific game settings all of which is enabled and set to run as best
Test without game mode. Have you tested HDMI cable? I'm sure HDMI output is 1.4 or higher. Single out any possibility.

i have a pretty old, small flat screen sony tv with legs
i noticed it does this flickering thing too, turning off then on for like few milliseconds, and i found out it does that when there's a fluctuation of power in my room like when i flip a light switch or turn on a fan or something, but i noticed too sometimes that it would flicker a loooot, that's when i got aggressive with the hdmi cable and it even stopped flickering (a lot)

so it could be the hdmi port, or the cable, or both (since the tv itself is pretty old)

I had a hdmi to dvi adapter on my htpc that sorta blanked out whenever the image went really bright. That tv has some trouble getting input from some other devices too. Hdmi definitely can be flaky like that on some devices.
I think modern tvs also just kinda suck. At least from my experience.
