Like the title, after SRW z2, now finally we have OG Gaiden.

Credits in the page say it uses AI, but uses the terminology of the existing english patch of the prequels, so maybe it has human editing or something.

translation / romhacking / art / testing by Creamhouse; built with Claude (Anthropic) for reverse-engineering, translation, and tooling, and Codex for the pixel-art edits. Terminology follows Kingcom's English patch of OG: Original Generations wherever the two games overlap.

I’ve given this a try using my (very) old OG Gaiden dump and the patch worked like a charm.

I had been replaying OG and meant to continue with Gaiden using a steam deck OCR/translation module, so this is automatically a better experience.

Playing a few minutes of the first mission, I’d say the translation is serviceable, it’s already better than Moon Dwellers lol

It’s a bit rough on the fonts and menus side, with some things overlapping or not being aligned, but no dealbreaker. I don’t think it’s my PCSX2 doing this.

Now for the cool part : it was predictable but this works perfectly with that Korean HD texture pack that works for both OG and OG Gaiden. If anyone is looking for it, just google SRW OG HD texture pack and you’ll get a Reddit thread with a YouTube link that explains everything. It’s been my definitive way to play Original Generations for years, the remaster we never got.

I’ve been hoping for years that Kingcom would eventually drop their translation out of nowhere like they did for OGs, and I still hope they will, but this looks better than no translation at all.

I hope someone does the Masoukishi games eventually or even OG 2, but we’d get into PS3 territory eventually so I’m not hoping too much.
