90% of each room can have a portal on it.

Basically, GLaDOS is telling the player that if you enter a portal, you will exit the other portal with the same momentum.

so. The point of Portal is basically to beat the test. and escape Aperture Science.

without GLaDOS killing you.

and she is indeed trying to, via the tests. They start out simple and get more complex. The games aren't hard really after you do each the first time.

that seems strange to me though, since you can only achieve through her methods. so she wants you to fail? to what end? better tests?

Basically, GLaDOS filled the entire Aperture building with deadly neurotoxin, killed everyone except Chell <You> and is testing basically to, as you said, "better tests."

And yes. GLaDOS wants to kill you. She is a murderous, sadistic A.I.

You can usually get Portal one and two on Steam for a 5-note. or less during the Steam sale.

They are worth picking up, if nothing else for the dialogue.
