Why isn't this game talked about more? The visual style is adorable. It's the most wholesome and cozy game there is.

I really like what they went for with the pastel art style and relaxing music. Also despite not having dialogues, its one of the most charming takes on kirby's world, the cute interactions with the animal friends and all these unique characters that you help at the end of every stage (instead of the usual find *insert magical item here*) made me want I could just chill around interacting with the characters. It's a completely opposite take compared to Super Star, but that I've come to slowly appreciate more, even though SS is still my favorite kirby game.

Though I admit I am not a big kirby fan nowadays, its probably an unpopular opinion but I feel like they should have ended the series with RtDL (at least 2D titles) which was a nice homage to early titles, as after it they just kept releasing extremely similar games that could easily pass as DLC, not unlike what NSMB series was doing.

I like Kirby 64 and Kirby and The Forgotten Lands for 3D stuff.

The game came out in 1997, the same year as Final Fantasy 7, Star Fox 64, Tekken 3, Golden Eye etc. so no time to play the latest pink blob game when you are blasting your friends in golden eye.
This. Its a slow-paced, relaxing and chill, 2D game that came out during a time where 3D was the new hotness, whether it was real-time or pre-rendered.

I remember not being impressed when I read the previews and reviews as a kid (for the same reasons I mentioned previously). But I was a dumb kid ?
Playing it much later as an adult and I appreciate what they were trying to do and the vibe it has. Hence why its probably the slowest of the Kirby games.

I had this as a kid, it was one of the few 'new' games I owned since I typically rented games or towards the end of SNES life or bought loose cart only. Super Star was/is one of my all-time favorite games on the system. Adore the artistic direction they went with in DL3, and the addition of Gooey was interesting to say the least.

Probably because it was near it's last stage of lifespan (before 1999+) or because when at the same time Sony, Nintendo and Sega started to introduced some of the greatest classics of that time on their new consoles

It's top-tier Kirby for sure.
Late to the game, like peeps be saying here. But quality nonetheless.
Loved poppin out the lil blue dude for co-op.

Emulating KDL3 back in the day was such a pain, because the game uses a ton of weird filters that block the playing field if your emulator didn't render them properly. Aside from that, excellent art style and music!

KDL2 is my favourite of the Dream Land trilogy, but 3 is good, too. Super Star Ultra is my favourite game in the series by a long shot, but I also enjoyed Amazing Mirror for what it was.

Oh really
You love the animal friends?

I played it once and it's pretty good for the last Kirby game to come out for the SNES/SFC and it has Essential Gameplay, Nice Graphics and a Nice Soundtrack.

My only issue is that Shimomura's Kirby games are slower paced, have less abilities (sword doesn't exist in Dreamland 3 which is extremely rare in the franchise) and the need to basically get all of the main collectibles (Heart Stars in this one) is why I think it's a less easily accessible game for newcommers to the franchise compared to Superstar.

I would still love to see a full remake, keeping the art style but in HD, while having a slightly faster Kirby and maybe not requiring 100% of the stars (something like only 4/6 for a world) to be able to finish the game could be good.

I'm thankful that you don't need every Energy Spheres, Sun Stones, Code Cubes, Friend Hearts nor Waddle Dees to finish the subsequent games.

And thanks to the Internet guides you can also see how to unlock each ones, even the harder (like
reassembling R.O.B with the help of the animal friends and specific abilities) and obtuse ones.

The Crayon/Colored Pencil artstyle that carried over to Crystal Shards is fucking beautiful. It actually somehow looks better than Yoshi's Island, which I thought would have been impossible

That being said, it's a tough act following up on Kirby Superstar, which I still consider one of the, if not the best Kirby game
