I'm neutral, mostly because I haven't gotten to 3 yet. I've seen more than a few comments questioning the visuals and some how floaty combat looked. I noticed in a few scenes, it looked like Sora's hair was black which made me wonder if it was him or not, but YouTube doesn't have a frame advance feature as far as I know.

I saw a couple of other comments theorizing that there will be Star Wars content, but I have a feeling Darth Vader won't be the superboss he deserves to be. ::sadkirby And that's if SW content is in. Disney flexing their other IPs would be refreshing, but I don't know if humanity is ready for The Simpsons Meet Kingdom Hearts.

Hopefully it'll release this decade!

im just so curious since the ending of KH3. im just so hype to find out what happens.

I have the sneaking suspicion that this is Square's (or Nomura's) attempt to remove the Disney side of this dumbass crossover so they can retain the rights to all of the original elements they created and keep making games without needing to divulge to Disney about these things (especially how oddly stingy they were about some stuff in KH3).

They Disney elements of KH were always so interchangeable. It didn't matter which hero you teamed up with, or what world you visited, it stopped mattering once you left in the grand scheme of things.

afaik disney owns sora, so im not sure how they could divorce themselves of disney

They already did it in Smash Bros. since in the "Dive into the Heart" stage, they removed all of the references to Donald and Goofy. It's a joint venture, with both companies having ownership, but Square is the one that actually created the games a designed the original characters. It's possible things have changed though new creative direction, especially with all the trailers and promos of KH4 being very not-Disney centric.

They might not even be wanting to include any Nomura or Final Fantasy related elements this time either, as it really feels as if they may have dissected everything original to Kingdom Hearts to be it's own thing.

Are Roxas and Ventus still alive by the time of this game? Why are we seeing Heartless after Xehanort is done for?

Xehanort isn't the source of heartless, even if he were to be erased from existence Heartless would still exist.
Besides we see him in the trailer holding an umbrela over Sora.

It's also a possibility that the creatures we see in the trailer might not even be heartless, or atleast the giant kaiju might not.

Everyone alive from 3 is presumably still alive but in another reality from where Sora currently is.

Wait, how the hell is this dude still there? Another Somehow, Xehanort returned. type of plot? Isn't it weird to bring back the same guy after all of those events being about defeating him? I know that there are technically different versions of the character but still...

So Heartless is more of a byproduct of something happening to people than an artificial species, got it.

I see it now.

I expected IV to feature a new protagonist and a new enemy type but let's see how it will continue in the story. I hope this will be a tiny bit less convoluted than the Darkness Seeker saga and that Nomura will live long enough to give us KH V and VI (and not too many spinoffs this time).

There's such a lack of news about this game that I swore this teaser was from 1 or 3 years ago, but with development hell or not (allegedly), at least this game is coming out. I wish other games in this unfortunate situation had the same luck that Kingdom Hearts 4 and 3 had.

So heartless are a natural byproduct of darkness, however the mobile games drop a bomb that the raw darkness (not heartless) is infact sentient.
It's what Vanitas is, he only took on Sora's form by way of taking the fractured shape of Ventus's missing heart. (no need to point out how convuluted that is..)

It's the younger version of Xehanrot, the eyes and ears suggest that this was him before becoming corrupted, this is also his version that was the protagonist of the mobile games.

Now to wonder if the hood figure that has been doing stuff since way before the original story started will do something in person or will stay in the shadows once again and do more hood figure stuff

About the the Disney worlds, chances are they will add Stitch world (still yet to get a story, maybe with Lilo), Star Wars (Anakin part, before Vader), Moana (we need one of those giants bosses to flex the battle engine), Zootopia, maybe Inside out/Elements/Toy Story(2)

In a very crazy one, maybe Descendants with Sora reaction at the kids and the sing part like 2 Little Mermaid :loldog

The real question is if Sora will finally get back to Kairi for good or it will be the start of him be all over places to a new saga looking a way to get back (but have fun while doing so)

Eh... I kinda liked the idea of the Heartless being mindless as they are what happens when people lose their heart (aka their soul) so making them sentient kinda defeats their more violent aspect.

I thought that Nobodies were the opposite: sentient yet an empty husk.

Still a tiny bit convoluted of a plot imo.

Disney owns the IP, they do that in Smash because they were only able to negotiate for the Kingdom Hearts IP specifically, and not the broader 'Mickey Mouse' IP it's interlinked with, since it presumably would have cost a lot more.

Nomura: I lied.

I'm in the "enjoy the gameplay, try not to understand the story" camp with the games.
You're probably doing the best choice but it's hard when this is a RPG with cutscenes you go through.

At least Zelda games are trying to be self contained stories without too many cutscenes (most of the time).

My wish is to see more Final Fantasy and Squaresoft related worlds but I feel we'll never see a Dragon Quest themed one ever in this series...

While I'm not a KH fan, it is good to see a franchise like KH still kicking, have fun y'all!

Thanks for sharing the trailer!
I really dig the city environment. I'd like them to show off Sora fighting a larger group of enemies. Fill the map with a mixture of big and small scale battles!

I think KH2FM is one of the best games of its generation. The ridiculous amount of content, the branching paths, the fun ways the narrative interweaved with the Disney film plots, it was all brilliant.

Graphically, KH3 is absolutely jaw-dropping, and started off really strong with the
opening Mt. Olympus level. Such verticality, and what a wonderful score!

However, as the game went on, I started to feel that the experience felt considerably more hollow than what had come before. It looked beautiful, but at times that beauty came at the expense of the gameplay. Long, drawn-out special moves that remove all control from the player, that go on for too long even when shortened + a considerably easier overall difficulty (at launch) dampened the overall experience for me. The enemy combinations weren't all that interesting, and it started to feel like I was being railroaded from set piece to set piece. The mini-games also didn't have quite the same depth or staying power as those found in KH2.

From watching the KH4 trailer, it looks like the "gold chain" special Sora does is almost like a re-skin of the train special move you can pull off in KH3. That's cool at first, but becomes monotonous quickly. I hope we have full control of the attack at all times - now that would be awesome, and it'd feel much more involving as well.

The fact it's being simultaneously released for all platforms makes me think the game isn't gonna try and push the envelope graphically on the higher end consoles. If they do, they're going to have to make some serious concessions for the less powerful ports. But hey, Square Enix have always hired great programmers, if anyone can pull it off, it's them.
