Well it's not some sort of fighting or something thread😁😁
I'm talking about server kick votes!
Well sometimes people made mistakes and well they should get kick from server. But sometimes it happens for no reasons. Like kick people for their country or language.
Sometimes it happens like this " I don't like you hair style!get out now!"
So let's talk about kick situation

I agree with vote kicking. "Freedom is participation in power" and in order to keep games fun and flowing, sometimes the people must vote a ne'er-do-well out. However things can be taken too far, "No tempest or conflagration, however great, is harder to quell than mob carried away by the novelty of power." This power is often abused and thus should be restricted with cooldowns and other measures.

I think by "kick votes" you mean "banning".
I personally don't have much experience with other sites, but i know such things happens in a lot of places... and it's very sad.

And also, we have kind people like Spike, who respects people of all countries and languages. 😊

Well, if you encounter sites that kick or ban people based on such things, probably staying on those sites won't worth it anyway.

I think happymasksalesman is talking about kick pools in gaming servers, and in those cases they are in fact usually just a kick.

I felt somewhat compelled to come here and ask what's this thread is all about, because I'm not sure.

Experience with kick pools in game servers I guess? People loved to kick me in Armagetron because of my brazilian ping :(

This delay actually allowed for me to cheat the game quite a bit, I'm not sure what the developers were thinking by leaving all the player movement on client-side but do the death condition check specifically on server-side. This effectively allowed me to bump into a wall and turn to a direction before the ping response caught up.

While I appreciate the explanation, I can't say I understand the point of it.

If you're referring to the kick pool mechanic itself, it's when a multiplayer game allows for non-moderator players to start a pool to kick a specific player, and if it passes, they get kicked. Sometimes it's used fairly, other times for complete petty reasons.

I suppose a few interesting stories could come out of this subject.

Ah, right, sorry; brain failed me for a moment there. I see what you mean now.

Edit: to chip in properly into the discussion, I think this kind of system cannot exist in place of some sort of moderation, because it can (and is) often used out of spite or to ostracize specific people or groups.

If it is a layer under proper moderation, then perhaps it is valid. Kick poll gets voted, goes up to moderation, then moderation deliberates and decides.

For it to work without moderation intervention it depends on the mindset of the players who frequent the server. It can either make matters better or worse depending on the situation.

It's quite useful when playing on TF2 Valve's servers nowadays. I've seen players only starting kick pools because of cheating, and since it's easy to tell which players are bots, you can't get away with falsely accusing people.

That's the thing, this kind of intra-regulated moderation is in essence a tacit agreement between all parties involved that everyone will play fair and behave with civility. It tends to not work, most of the time.

Well let's clean the thread by a example:
-where are you from?
-Iran
After 5 second get kicked out.

I mean games servers like among us and rider of ecaros. Sometimes people when see you are alone in a server or play they say " hmm let's kick him!"
Banning is something completely else. When people get ban they do something they shouldn't do.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. It can still be misused, even if the idea behind it is valid. Even when people mass kick "for fun", it's only fun for the kickers, never the kicked.

Sometimes people use the kick vote for keep server empty for their friends but they don't tell the kicked why they do that.
Honestly i don't get it why people did this, in many Server-Based Game you can create a Room with Password anyway what's the point of creating a Public one but you only gonna play with your Circle and kick anyone whose in?
