Hi guys and gals!

I don't see any comments of the CFW processes for PSP on here so I thought I might see if there are any prevailing opinions on what's cool and what works best. Guessing its a story much older that this forum. Nothing too new?

What I've done is buy three PSP 3000s one mint (nearish hopefully) one I'm going to use for the one game I really want to play on it being Valkyria Chronicles II on hard copy (any other must get hard copy tips will be appreciated btw). And then two cheaper ones. For some experimenting.

I'm open to suggestions for a stable low risk option and a high risk high reward option ;)

ARK-4 firmware seems to be the way to go nowadays. It's been a long time since I don't tinker with my PSP but if I had, that would be what I would choose.

Are all the PSP's version 3000?, if so, I would try to exchange one of those 3000 for a 2000, because screens in 2000 do not suffer from interlacing, if that bothers you as much as it bothers me.

Congratulations on the purchage by the way :)

EDIT: Waiting for someone's answer...

Indeed they are. I meant to only buy one but clicked pay on the wrong tab. Classic.

2000s have the best screens then? Interesting! I hear 1000s are worth it for the better feel too?

Well, the contrast and colors is better on the 3000, but those screen suffer from interlacing, an awful effect that gives the feeling you're playing with scanlines when there is movement on the screen. For me, the better things on the 3000's screens do not outweight the horrible interlacing effect, but for some people it does not matter. It's up to you to decide, if you have the option to see both screens side by side :).

PSP 1000 screen is not recommended, they have very noticeable ghosting and the contrast is not very good. The few occasions I've played with PSP it was with my white PSP1000 and the first time I saw a PSP2000 screen I was freaking out.

But for the feel, you're right. Grabbing a PSP1000 is more comfortable and the sensation you're holding a better product is there. On the bad side, the weight can be too much if you're playing for a long time. I used to take off the battery while playing and just connect it to the AC adapter, just to lighten its weight xD.

Yeah, PSP 3000 was horrible not only interlacing, I got one with dark box "mura" in background very annoying should had returned but it was cheap outstock sale.
Lucky I replaced it with one from Aliexpress, this one is Superb, No interlacing, no mura, no ghosting and bright/deep Color and fast response, it very impressive now with newer LCD Tech than that old SHARP brand, almost psvita display.

I use the old stable NON permanent CFW, as I still can use it in stockmode.
Buy the PSP to micro SD memory adapter for easy transfers with PC.
Everything parts/tools you can find on Aliexpress and replace the joystock aswell that will drift.

Yeah, PSP 3000 was horrible
It may be some are worse than others. I'll have three to compare soon. Hehe. But yea the main thing for me is that the screens are not scratched up and the pics did look good. In so far as scalines go I think I can handle them as long as they dont pan randomly Ive got an LCD TV that upscales and it generally the best thing ever apart from when time to time I fix my eyes on a certain spot an the scanning artefacts come to the fore. Its a thing that can be seen through, though. Definitely up for the modding option eventually too. One I work out how to get all the games playing perfectly with all the OHI that can be garnered ;)

I'm thinking it might be best to use one untampered with for PSX EBOOTS?

And another for PSP DLs & DLCs with all the mod connings?? Also is there a better SD adaptor??

Yea bloomin AliEs I bought a saroo off there once and it wasn't as pictured. Just depths of feckless husslers. Certainly the pictures likely mean nothing. I prefer to stick to eBay where are least feedback matters somewhat. Got a few things I want off of there. Love and hate it. Dragging their feet on the Switch replicas, huh? Perhaps they actually fear Japanese invasion over it ;()
