JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, one of the best manga/anime. We got great adaptions thanks to David's production but today I want to talk about something that is still kinda mystery... JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood movie. Made by studio A.P.P.P to celebrate 20th anniversary of JoJo and 25th anniversary for Araki's manga carrer in 2007. The film was teased as early as 2004 at the Tokyo International Anime Fair. I don't understand why we don't get this movie because if you don't know, studio A.P.P.P also made JoJo's Bizarre Adventure OVA,

which is the perfect adaptation of Stardust Crusaders for me... Even after some research, I still haven't find any answer, even in the interview with Junichi Hayama, the one who makes character designs, and also the animation director.

"In 2007, a movie adapting the Phantom Blood part of Jojo's Bizarre Aventure was released in Japanese theaters. This movie has never seen any release outside its theater distribution. You worked on it as a Character Designer and Animation Director. Is there a reason why this movie never had any home video release?"

Junichi Hayama: "I don’t want you to see me angry and pissed off, so it is better if I don’t answer this question."[5]

`What are your thoughts of this lost Media? Let me know

The Phantom Blood anime was
pardon my language
ASS
so I'd love to see this movie found at one point

That's never coming out unless Araki releases it from the vault. And i doubt that's happening anytime soon since he hated the Phantom Blood movie.

The original OVA Jojo series from the 90's is my definitive Stardust Crusaders Jojo. The latter anime series which is more remembered for the "To be continued" meme that spawned was more memorable just for that joke.

I don't think we'll ever see this thing, I don't even know if Araki himself has this sitting somewhere at this point to be honest, but it would be cool

The thing is, Phantom Blood manga is pretty boring as well. It's by no means "bad" or "ass" but it sure is generic and boring. Araki's prior work, Baoh, was also a cash in on the Bio Weapon thing at the time like Guyver, which is far better in all regards. Thankfully he was able to break away from the whole "can I copy your homework" thing he had going on and came up with one of the most memorable manga series ever, not to mention giving us a masterpiece like Part 7 down the line.

I disagree. Some people get turned off with because of its "slow" start and because it's mostly inspired by classic Western comics. Also because it's not yaoibait like the later Parts since many Jojo fanboys (including the fake ones that only started liking Jojo when it became the "cool thing" worldwide thanks to the anime adaption) are yaoi fanboys/fangirls (including CLAMP and their infamous, cursed Jojo yaoi doujin).

The last great Part. Part 8 is a boring cashgrab that adds nothing new to the formula. It was at beginning of Part 8 when I finally dropped Jojo manga since it started recycling old stuff.

I doubt the manga is nearly as bad as the anime where characters are introduced and then die in the same episode with no reason for me to care cause who tf were they. It feels so rushed and it being paired with Battle Tendency probably had something to do with that

Here are the first 16 minutes of it:

I thought he didnt hate it.

For me Jojolion is the second best in the series after Stardust.

Word, felt like more people talked about the memes than anything else, there’s too little time to feel invested and it felt like a draft.

Actually the pacing is significantly better in the anime, the manga drags on events for so long that it's mind numbingly boring to read after a while

I agree about Part 8, it's boring and just genuinely not written well. The main antagonist is also by far the worst character in the entire series. I can count on one hand the amount of panels he's in. Such a cool stand ability given to such a meaningless, boring and bland character.
As for your opinion on Part 1, I mean yeah everyone can have different opinions of course. The problem isn't necessarily that it's slow though, it's just that the pacing in the manga is truly abysmal and has so many moments that have absolutely zero purpose or bearing on plot and character. People will often times point to the date Jonathan and Erina have as an example, but was that REALLY a necessary part to add? In my opinion it wasn't. Overall for me it's pacing and development is a good place to look at where Araki started and how incredible his improvement has been over the years.

I agree, the pacing is slow but things to faster quite quickly especially when they finally fight in the burning manor.

I feel that people nowadays are less patient and want things to go fast despite that sometimes taking time to set things up is more useful than rushing them.

It made George Joestar's death much more impactful than if it was done in the early chapters.

Hayama Junichi, an anime legend, i wish i could see his work.
