Jazz is arguably the most historically and culturally important musical genre in modern history, with many countries having their own distinct jazz cultures. Wherever there is jazz, you are likely to find jazz fusion, incorporating elements of jazz, funk, pop, electronic, r&b, rock, and other musical genres. Although most commercially popular in the 1970s and 80s, you can still find some modern day jazz fusion artists. Here are just a sprinkling of my favorite songs/artists from around the world!

Deodato - Tahitti Hut (Brazil, 1978)

Casiopea - Reflections of You (Japan, 1980)

Shakatak - Easier Said Than Done (England, 1982)

Cortex - Troupeau Bleu (France, 1975)

Azymuth - Faça de Conta (Brazil, 1975)

John Tropea - Can't Hide Love (USA, 1977)

Shigeru Mukai - Mirage (Japan, 1980)

Dr. Lonnie Smith - It's Changed (USA, 1975)

This a great collection, unique in taste.

I always associate it with Japan.

And I love Casiopea.
Jazz Fusion wormed it's way into Japanese pop culture moreso than western pop culture, largely thanks to it's inclusion in a whole slew of Japanese video games. After jazz fusion's global prime, Japan continued to carry the torch into the 90s and 2000s.
Miles Davis has some really good stuff from when he started getting weird in the 70s. This entire album is completely insane
Miles Davis is one of the pioneers! He's definitely more experimental than other artists and I love a lot of his stuff. However, I hold the rather unpopular opinion that his album Bitches Brew is a bit overrated lol.

I’ve never met anyone else who’s heard it irl so I haven’t had that experience, I do really like bitches brew but personally I think dark Magus is a little better. I feel like it has a sound I can only find on that album specifically
