Does anyone remember this movie? It really defined my childhood—I used to watch it every single day. I remember back when I was a kid, I arrived at school and this movie was playing.

I had never heard of it prior to this post.

What can you tell us about it? (:

Well, back when I was a kid, I got home from school—it was around 5:00 PM—and this movie was on. I sat there watching it until 6:00, eating rice and ground beef; it was the story of *Jack and the Beanstalk*, but the 1974 anime version.

Got this VHS at my grandparents, actually loved It, still kind of do with the changes made to the story so now that a kingdom and a witch Is Involved, except for the ending.

The giant did not have to die, he had a redemption arc. :(

I agree with you—the giant didn't deserve that. He was being manipulated into becoming a villain. I watched it on a channel called TV Cultura in Brazil, dubbed into Portuguese, and I really loved it.

Sounds cool, bro.

I'm a sucker for older anime.
I don't remember the exact day or date, but I remember it was an afternoon. I arrived home tired from school here in Brazil, school starts around 5 pm. Whether it's morning or afternoon, I don't remember the exact time, but I arrived very happy and turned on the TV, which was showing movies, and I watched them until late.

I loved this movie as a kid, the english dubbed version. We watched it in a Betamax tape. It didn't impress us much at the first showing but after repeat viewing, it sort of got into our heads. The princess' song was something we laughed at initially but I could never forget it for some reason.

The best part was the wedding song of the giant. It was the stuff of nightmares for a kid.

Enjoy. Are you happy?:loldog

Funny enough, that was the first thing I saw when I put the tape In.

Back when Rewind Be Kind had to be reminded.
