Well, back when I was a kid, I got home from school—it was around 5:00 PM—and this movie was on. I sat there watching it until 6:00, eating rice and ground beef; it was the story of *Jack and the Beanstalk*, but the 1974 anime version.
I agree with you—the giant didn't deserve that. He was being manipulated into becoming a villain. I watched it on a channel called TV Cultura in Brazil, dubbed into Portuguese, and I really loved it.
I don't remember the exact day or date, but I remember it was an afternoon. I arrived home tired from school here in Brazil, school starts around 5 pm. Whether it's morning or afternoon, I don't remember the exact time, but I arrived very happy and turned on the TV, which was showing movies, and I watched them until late.
Funny enough, that was the first thing I saw when I put the tape In.I loved this movie as a kid, the english dubbed version. We watched it in a Betamax tape. It didn't impress us much at the first showing but after repeat viewing, it sort of got into our heads. The princess' song was something we laughed at initially but I could never forget it for some reason.
The best part was the wedding song of the giant. It was the stuff of nightmares for a kid.
