Itch.io suggestions for retro ROM games?

Loading up 3DSEN yesterday I noticed that the developer has created profiles for a few recently-made games which are being sold or offered freely on Itch.io.
I tried browsing Itch but there's a massive mound of titles under the NES filter and a lot of them are very short or basic.
I was hoping this forum might know of some professionally-designed Indie titles, for old consoles, that I can look for. =)

Mega Man: The Sequel Wars is a really well made remake of Mega Man IV in the style of the Genesis The Wily Wars games. They originally said they were going to remake Mega Man V and VI as well, even putting out a trailer for V, but there's been no news in ages now.

"Akumanor Gaiden" is a super short "Castlevania" inspired side-scroller that plays pretty well. In addition to the original monochrome version, there's also a DX enhancement that displays the entire game in color.
