I have a reoccurring issue with playing games on my ps2, normally i'd install the ISO file of X game then burn it on the flash disk with the help of a program named USBUtil
then start playing normally. but in other times, some games either don't start or freeze mid game
does anyone know whats the issue and how to resolve it.

thanks in advance for trying to clear up the confusion

I'd also report that using the USB port is less than ideal since it's USB 1.1, which has slower read speeds and sub-optimal performance. If you have the Fat PS2, getting a network adapter and a hard drive would give you the fastest speeds.

IF you have a DVD burner and some blank DVDs, I would recommend patching the ISO with ESR Disc patcher and then burn it to disc. Afterwards, you play the disk with the ESR Launcher program with FMCB. That way, you can play burned DVDs without needing a modchip.

Here's a link to the patcher: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/esr.30217/

'Burn it to the flash disk'
What does that means ... Anyway.
There are still people who use the USBUTIL program in the year 2025?
Just a simple pendrive will do the trick...
-Format the pendrive. (Exfat)
-Put your iso inside a folder named "DVD"
-Use the latest version of OPL with 'Exfat' compatible.
Easy.
