NDS Issue with my Pokémon Black cart

I wanna use my copy of the game but the console isnt detecting it. Are the pins corroded or something?

Wouldn't hurt to clean the pins with isopropyl alcohol, letting it dry and then see if that makes a difference. If that doesn't work, try inserting the cartridge and keeping the cart pressed down to see if it gets detected that way?

When was the last time you knew it was working? How long has it sat without being played? These carts will unfortunately deteriorate over time and apparently they are more prone to failure if left unused for a long period of time

I know with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire they used bad rom chips that cause a lot of them to fail more often than other 3DS games, same might be true here. I think the Gen 5 games are the largest DS games so it'd make sense if they had to source from a lower reliability manufacturer for cost or availability reasons

It's hard to say without running through some troubleshooting. I hope you get lucky and it ends up working again. I've had pretty good luck with mine up to this point, I try to turn them on every once in a while just to make sure they're alright

Does antiseptic alcohol work? I only recall seeing that one at home

Fair, I'm not an expert on this and just go off what I've seen other people discuss. Never personally experienced this type of failure up to this point. And yes, DS carts are way overpriced for what you get. Flashcart life for me here on out

That I don't exactly know. I usually use isopropyl for electronics if ever needed (rarely). I'd definitely google around to find out for sure

SHOULD be fine as long as you are not dousing the whole thing in it.

The goal here is to remove any possible hint of dirt and grime off the contacts, which should work with this particular tool.

What they said, use a q-tip to lightly rub the contacts. I think antiseptic and isopropyl are the same? Should say what percentage is on the bottle. Either way give it a try

Never used antiseptic alcohol to clean electronics, so do it at your own risk

clean it and see if that works (i use isopropol alcohol (90% or above if possible you want as pure as possible) and canned air.). if not maybe the battery went bad or something. idk how DS games work compared to GameBoy games but if theyre similar inside you may have to open it up and poke around. sometimes the batteries are fused to the circuits so it can be a bit of a pain to deal with if you dont know soldering. at least assuming DS stuff works like GameBoy stuff anyhow. i could be way off base here idk. if the battery is good maybe its something on your DSes end then. try another game and see if that works. if not maybe clean the cartridge slot on your DS (you can use similar stuff as mentioned above). if stuff is still goofy then idk whats up specifically
