So how does your Family stand to your hobby are they more open minded or are they even gamers themselves or are they very old fashioned and see gaming as a waste of time and purely as a children's hobby ?
And did you have any conflicts with your family because of you hobby or not ?
As we all know that some folks still believe that games are for children only and not for Adults and that we should get a ''real'' hobby instead according to there opinions.
I myself are lucky in that Regard as my Ma is not a gamer yet is Supportive of my hobby.

I guess my dad is partially responsible for my obsession with games. One day he brought a fat PS1 to our home and started playing Metal Gear Solid, Parasite Eve and Crash Bandicoot (among many others), trying to cover his own interest in games and technology by saying "hey, I bought it for the kid". So I was hooked almost from the start. With years my parents kinda accepted the fact that I have more passion for videogames than contributing to the society by making a family or whatever, so they are pretty chill about it now. We all cope with reality in different ways afterall and this is mine.

Well my parents are the ones introduce me into gaming, I mean they taught to play nes before jumping to ps1 at least play nes as a training for baby gamers and I did beat two nes game and jump to playstation 1

Our whole family is a gamer my mom was a puzzle point and click adventure and master of cards and mahjong and my dad was a rpg horror action and farm simulator.

So our ritual in family if your are new gamer play the Nes first before jumping to big console learn the basic and master the timing thinking and hard before jumping to big adventure.

I'm a grown ass man. They don't care.
I would have no interest in technology and as such my career choice without video games and everything related to it, many games compounded my other interests by being a version of it that I could interact with.

But to second this comment. I am an adult, I do what I want!!

To address OP specifically, nothing was ever really said about it when I was younger, my dad was negative about it for a stint, but he passed away and as for my mother she saw it as something that kept me occupied. It's really not much different from someone that reads books for hours every week, except that is seen as a positive trait and not negative in some way.

I do think living on discord and playing games you don't like to appease a group for many hours every day at the expense of everything else in your life is bad though. There's many that think they have to stop playing games because all they did was play online games with a group all the time, destiny 2 was the big one for many quitting games all together, like an abusive book club, it's the books fault and not the club. I can assure them, it's not the books.

I've seen this happen to two people and they literally spent years not going outdoors so they can play games in a specific discord group, so I can definitely understand that negative view point of games at the very least. All the other viewpoints are based in ignorance of some kind.

Mostly indifferent, I picked up gaming thanks to my uncle, dad is pretty much supportive of any activities that doesn't involve drugs or anything bad.

My father used to play with me when I was a kid / teenager, and my mom never cared about videogames. I have fond memories of that, but I was introduced to the world of videogames thanks to friends, so my parents have nothing to do with this.

Moreover, the question seems more oriented to very young people. If you're on your late 20's or 30's, it has zero impact in your life, so an answer "I am old enough to really don't care" would be missing in this poll.

Not its actually meant for Adult sure I doesn't matter much if our Parents support us or not regarding games but people have still contacts with there parents and others don't and for those who still have contact would be interesting to know how there parents perceive there Gaming Hobby if they are supportive or constantly nagging about it.

Well my dad and mom are okay with it(boring answer i know)
Sleepy GIF

Well better boring than to have constantly endure nagging for your Hobby

My father paradoxically got me into gaming but also had an issue with me gaming for most of my life. He taught me about computers and tech, got me a PS2 when I was a kid and stuff, but it had been a point of conflict for a long time. Now, like other people in this thread said, I'm a grown-ass man and I do what I want, and that's my responsability.

Well mixed bag family sees it as waste of time my older sister is into games but more on the causal side she did play games like bully and max Payne and splinter cell we discuss them games often.

I wouldn't say they supportive more like oppose it but I'm simply too stubborn and rebellious to heed anything they say when it comes to this hobby ::eggmanlaugh ::smug

I see, it makes sense. But it would be funny to do this answer "girlfriend / boyfriend edition" lol.

Yeah, my dad got us all into gaming. My older bro got us into cool games like Diablo 2. My mom was supportive as long as it didn't interfere with my schooling. I play Pokemon Go with my mom.

Mom never cared but she knew I was really into them. Dad wasn't into them but he always supported me whenever I wanted to build a PC or find ways to fix/mod my consoles.

Here's the thing: mom hated it, but dad was very ambivalent about it (even encouraged it more than a little bit).

My partner largely didn't mind until I started getting paid for it through a reviewing gig I had, then she was all for it.

And right now? I'm probably spoiling the little ones rotten with it, but it is what it is.

Well mom did like mario and before shit got very sick she played allot of the sims 1-4.
Dad never play games but he often said he´s happy I spend my money and time on games instead of drugs and alcohol.

So both very sportive.

My partner is a gamer him self but we like allot of different games same with anime.

And I got my kids in to gaming as well.

My youngest sister is a gamer as well but she is more in to MInecraft and roblox and fortnight.

My oldest younger sister im not sure if she ever been in to games at all but does not hate it or such I know her BF if a gamer and she never been agnist him playing but problem is he never has time working his ass off.

"im the oldest of 3 kids"
