It depends but I hope there will be a good scoring system, that the game will be challenging yet fair.

I don't even mind if they don't bring back the coin meter gimmick from 6/7/XX or the character quirks (or making them optional).

Making Morden the main antagonist of the game would make sense but I wouldn't mind seeing the martians back as a secondary enemy type.

Oh and I hope the OST will be good.

Will they even make actual proper MS sequel that could play as good as before tho? Doubt it considering that the original dev people themselves even struggled to release Black Finger JET and it already announced like a decade ago.
If anything I'd expect SNK to release another gacha game like Attack and focus on new AoF/SamSho instead.

If SNK seriously cared about Metal Slug at this point they would've done something since last year.
They didn't even bother actually updating Attack Reloaded and Tactics, the latter which made the dev bankrupt and dissolved.

I don't know if they could put a new antagonist type like how MS7/XX also had one (although they were reskined Rebel units like how MS5 had reskins as well).

I think Venusians/Invaders, the Ptolemaic Army, the Amadeus Syndicate and even the Future Army are probably out of the window as each were meant to be a one off antagonist type for their respective games (as much as I loved the style of the Ptolemaic Army personally).
