I just saw the trailer DMC and I'm not sure is this supposed to be DMC I'm not saying is bad. it looks fucking amazing, but I'm not sure is this supposed to be DMC

Not sure not interested in netflix junk have not even paid for that shit for past 5 years.

honestly Netflix, Disney plus and Crunchyroll just needs to die and we need to get a better replacement.
I'm less and less fan of these western animes.

Best case scenario it would be like Castlevania.
This does not sound good.

OOC*There is an older DMC anime from around 2007, which is a well-made series consisting of 12 episodes. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Although I am not the biggest Devil May Cry fan, I still find the games entertaining at times. Honestly, I am more of a Bayonetta fan. The anime was produced by the ever-epic Studio Madhouse, which should tell you all you need to know—at least if you're an anime fan. It also reminds me a lot of Hellsing in the way it is presented.*

And proving once again that Netflix can turn even the most beloved franchise into a delightful bowl of digital slop. I mean, who wouldn’t want to watch their favorite characters reduced to pixelated puddles of mediocrity? It’s like they have a special talent for annihilating narratives. Honestly, I can't wait to see how they’ll butcher Dante’s dialogue with the same grace as a toddler wielding a chainsaw. But hey, at least we can always count on them to ruin our nostalgia with a cheerful flourish

Yes it's DMC.

But because it is Netflix edition, it will be different.

Best case scenario it would be like Castlevania.

Worst case? Well prepare for DmC but less edgy.
The Castlevania anime is great, the DOTA anime is mediocre, the Masters of The Universe stuff I don't care about much.
But what unified all of these, good or mid? The same ass looking art style. Why? Why does Powerhouse do this? It's not like they can't do more styles, they did the Sonic Origins cinematic stuff, they do a lot of the Monkey Ball animated stuff, Enter the Gungeon, some DC stuff. Why are they so adamant on doing this same exact stiff looking art style?
Yes, the DMC anime will probably be good, just based off of trailers they seem to understand that DMC is in no way a serious franchise and is just ridiculous stupidness and violence all over.
But again, I really really hate that all these Powerhouse Animation Netflix anime are done in this same unified art style. That's legit my one and only gripe with this stuff.

I feel like all of Netflix's anime adaptations should be treated as their own, separate entities, removed from whatever IP they're a tie-in to.
I've never liked them personally - even kind of loathe the dialogue writing in the Castlevania anime - but I can understand why they resonate with people. I used to be an edgy, relentlessly horny teen as well in ancient days.

To be Honest I still want this one to do well. As much as I love JYB still can't help but hear Nero. I'd also love to think they didn't get Dan out of respect to both Him and Reuben's work and Fans of the OG Sons of Sparda. What stings was the higher-ups cut their ties to Reuben just cuz he stood for his beliefs that just so happened to not align with theirs, which to me is both sad and kinda gotten around with just by having an open mind.... Just my Thoughts won't dig much more. All the respect as well to those on the other side.

I mostly ignore news about Netflix adaptations, so I'm completely out of the loop - what happened there with Reuben?

EDIT: Nevermind, looked it up real quick. This would just derail the thread. Bummer all around.

Unfortunately that won't happen until they see a huge decrease in viewers and it becomes known why there's a drop. I dropped Netflix because their garbage shows and movies are front and center in your feed. Crunchyroll I never bothered because of their localizers becoming a controversy.

Guys, it's not anime unless it's made in Japan by Japanese people. BY READING THIS STATEMENT, YOU HEREBY AGREE WITH EVERY TERM DEFINED IN THIS POST, AND RELEASE YOUR RIGHT TO DISAGREE WITH IT.
Can't say I cared too much even before the 2020s either way, but isn't that a distinction only the western usage of the term draws though?
Clearly Netflix's usage is just a completely intentional and considered step forward in the process of cultural osmosis!

Well even in Japan they make clear, easily-definable distinctions between "Japanese anime" and the form of "anime" they use for all other international animation and I'M NOT GETTING INTO THIS ARGUMENT AGAIN AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME

Let's not be pedantic there, animes and cartoons are absolutely the same thing. Same with comics and mangas.

I used to be like that but after a while I stopped caring.

Indians weren't content with the streets so they went to shit on video games too since it's so clearly aimed at the vergil chair, pizza woohoo man type of fans
