I'll admit that I'm not the biggest movie fan out there, but I still love quite a few films to death.

Problem is that a surprising number of them just lose me at some point because they feel like they are stretching themselves for no real reason, slowing down the plot by going on tangents that either never get resolved or don't really go anywhere.

I had quite a few examples of this, but the one that immediately came to mind was LaLaLand.

I absolutely adored that film, but its runtime north of two hours felt unnecessarily long for the story it wanted to tell and I can't help but feeling that a lot of minor scenes could have been better employed as extras upon release instead of letting them freely eat up and "bloat" the movie's length the way they are now (and I thought I was alone on this, but it turns out that it's a pretty shared sentiment among fans of the film).

Do you have any examples of this sort of thing?

Blood in Blood out is an awesome movie but its runtime is 3 hours
but every scene is important and its not stretched out at all and never gets boring

Zodiac was one that was good, but my friend and I literally went for a snack run about halfway through. She didn't even have to say anything, I knew she was thinking what I was thinking. Animal crackers.

Yes. Russian Ark (2002). Conceptually it's a great film, but after 1:30 hours watching the same shot can feel a bit tiresome if you are not in the mood.
Then there are the actual long films. And that is another kind of beast altogether.

i went to the cinema to watch lord of the rings and fell asleep
i think half the audience was asleep as well

Once Upon a Time in America, the uncut version. I wouldn't remove a single scene, but I'm glad it has an intermission. At nearly 4 hours, it needs one.

I wonder if the new complete release of Kill Bill will have an intermission too...::thinking

Strangely... I was gonna add Das Boot to that list (because it truly is monstrously large), but not a single scene is wasted there.

I enjoyed Fiddler on the Roof and I hate musicals. Bit it's 181 minutes long and I don't think I can watch it again unless I break it unto parts.

I will be honest, both of the original trilogies are some of my favorite movies next to anything Stallone related, but I feel like they extend just a little bit too much for me to comfortably watch them more than once or twice per year.

Tar (2022) is brilliant but it is a story I felt could've been told under 110 minutes, and didn't need to be around 150 minutes in length because it really felt dragged in the middle before it landed to its point

Don't know if anyone else will agree, but since I'm still on the journey to watch all the James Bond movies, im gonna say mutiple movies from the series. Just feel that when I'm watching, "Maybe they should have cut 15 minutes for pacing. Theres no exposition of anything else, no more set up necessary, he's gonna get that guy."

Die another day is the next one im watching sometime soon.

I think a movie can be any length as long as it justifies that length. A lot of my favorite are 3 hours or longer. There are movies that I think feel bloated or stretch out too much though. I don't normally love those films though. I did recently re-watch Shawshank Redemption yesterday and felt I kinda checked out around those last 20 minutes since the film had pretty much climaxed already so it felt like going through the motions before finally ending.

Das Boot is an all time favorite. I wouldnt even say the miniseries version wastes any scenes.

Most probably The Batman (2022). Like, it's an amazing movie, but the whole three hours a bit too much at times.

i disagree with this. we need a director's cut that includes new content with peace walker and mgsV included in it.
my first playthrough of this game was 14 hours and that flew by when i was playing it.
i need to play this again. it's been so long since i last booted it up.

Yeah it definitely needs more content, I'd really like to see it with Peace Walker too (especially with the new engine)

Honestly, the movie goes by at a good pace for 3 hours. Especially on the first watch.

I admit Man of Steel could have been shorted in some spots, but it never felt nowhere near as bloated as Batman Begins.
