Hello everyone! Like the title says, I was wondering if there's any work or an attempt to translate trails 3rd psp version specifically. I want to enjoy the whole liberl saga in one console. The game was translated in english for vita (which is awesome) thank you for stopping by!

Never say never. In theory the same method that was used to inject the xseed translations into the evo vita releases could be done for the psp port. It's just not likely to happen in 2026 because the only area where such a thing would be needed is for people playing on an actual PSP or a low powered emulation device that can play some PSP games (like the Trails games) but can't do pc or vita emulation. The PSP version doesn't have anything unique over the PC or Vita versions, so you'd need someone with a very unique skill set to want to sink the many hours it would take to do so.

There's 3:2 screen ratio hacks for PSP which can play on more screens. Vita looks tiny on my Retroid Pocket mini

The requirements for running the PC version of 3rd are fairly low. So unless the the current remakes flub something hard, the interest in porting the PC translation to PSP will be (also) fairly low. It might be worth looking into getting the PC version to run on handheld using portmaster/gamehub/etc.

Not as far as I’m aware.

The Vita version fan translation was already based on the official translation of the PC version, so there's no need to go near it.

At this point it's not worth anyone's time to try to insert the English text into what is arguably the inferior version of the game when the PC version has such low system requirements and the Vita version is available as an option. Less about difficulty and more about the time commitment.

It's a shame because every other Trail's game has a PSP fan translation except the 3rd, even the fighting game Ys vs Trails.

I could be wrong but the most likely reason was that XSEED had the localization of the Sky trilogy locked down for a while so Geofront focused all their time on the Crossbell games instead.

As i understand translating Trails games is like 90% of the effort going into a patch but since the translation is already done in PC version and it's script was already used to make a VITA english patch i don't see why it has never been done for PSP?

Is it that hard to do the same thing for PSP what was already done on the VITA?

Because even with the translated text available, someone still has to figure out how to insert the text into the PSP version then test it start to finish to make sure it's working properly without any glitches or bugs. That someone also has to have no compunction about releasing the PSP patch when the official PC version exists. Geofront probably won't share the tools used for the Crossbell PSP games for exactly that reason.

How many people have succeeded in inserting english text into the PSP version? How many patches are out there in the wild?

Community can jump in to test the game from start to finish to make sure it's working properly without any glitches or bugs. It's not that hard.
