Is there a movie or tv show/anime/cartoon you only knew about because you were in another country at the time?

To specify with an example: When me and my family occassionally vacationed to France in the summer, we would catch cartoons that hadn't aired in Denmark yet. Shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Trouble with Sophie, and A Little Princess Sarah. They were in French of course so we understood jack all, but we didn't care, we were just glad there was something for us to watch. Plus, you'd be surprised how much kids can gather of the plot even if they can't understand what is being said. I mean especially in cartoons it is pretty obvious who is good and who is bad, or when someone is happy or sad etc.

So did you ever vacation to a foreign country or stay there for an extended period for whatever reason and catch something on TV you never knew about?

And while we are at it, do you know of any cartoons, movies, or other TV programs that never got an international release? Like if you are from Bosnia (or whatever) and you know of a particular show that only ever aired there.

I grew up on anime when I was coming up so I lot I knew then was through dub, like Speed Racer, Voltron, Robotech etc. so while I lived in Japan for a year, I knew a fair amount of what existed, yet I didn't get was the actual story. The ones that were lost in translation so I found myself watching other shows like Babel Nisei, Cyborg 009 (old and new), Creamy Mami and I guess it lit a spark in me cause my mom sent me a care package and in it, she sent me Yu Yu Hakusho, the manga. Now I never turn down a good book so it got me into finding some for myself. I was surprised some based off Mother 2, Arc the Lad and found the entire LttP manga done by Ishinomori.

I remember when I went to USA years ago and in the hotel me and my family watched Ninjago, the series was like in season two, while in Chile the series was on season 1. The same happened with the Pokemon anime, while USA was transmitting the Pokemon X/Y season, Cartoon network in chile was still transmitting the Black and White season. Also, here we never got the dub of the Buu saga in DBZ Kai (until many years later) so we watched for a long time the Saiyan, Freezer and Cell saga episodes out of order in Cartoon network.

Ahh yes, certain regions being behind schedule is a common one. I still remember back in the Naruto Shippuden days where the English dub would always be about 100 episodes (2 years) behind the original Japanese dub. Also, regarding DBZ, I guess due to lack of popularity (?) the Danish dub never went beyond episode 104 (the finale of Goku vs Freeza). Actually there were a lot of long running shows we never finished. Naruto for us only went up to about episode 32. For a series of 220 episodes, that's pathetic. And it's not like Naruto was unpopular here... but no one (I assume) tuned in to the poor Danish dub. They would rather watch the Japanese or English dubs online.
