Is there a CRPG game that has something like stands from JoJo?

So I haven't played a ton of CRPGs (just Fallout 1 + 2 as well as Baldur's Gate 1 + 2) but I generally love the freedom they give and are probably the only style of RPG I enjoy when not playing dungeon crawler (I don't count squad based tactics one)

But basically I am curious, is there a CRPG that lets me have an entity like a stand from JoJo? It doesn't have to be EXACTLY the same thing, but you get my idea something close enough to it.

Persona 1 and 2 were very much like you describe. Not quite CRPGs, but the fights are isometric and turn-based.

Never heard of crpg's. If Baldur's Gate is a crpg, then, release more crpg's. Baldur's gate 3 is a bit of a mockery of the series from what I have seen.

If you want a cRPG with fantasy punk elements and crazy invocations you should try Planescape Torment.

Same as Baldur's Gates, but you've got spells that could open portals from planes of existence where they build giant laser cannons to shoot demons you cant bargain with...

I know they're not CRPGs, but the Inazuma Eleven games on the DS are literally RPGs with stands in them (and also football)
Only the GO series onwards has the "Stands", the original one only has characters do skills that sometimes summon an entity but that was it.

My recommendation is Blue Dragon, while not directly stands you do summon a dragon from your shadow to help you during combat.

Definitely will try this game if I ever get a PC again. Don't think you can play it on android and that's all I have to work with ATM. Looks great, though 👍

Blue dragon series but it’s kinda mediocre
Inazuma eleven is definitely really fun though so give it a go

Good news is, you can install Win98 via Retroarch and DOSBox Pure to play the game on Android. If you're not allergic to Retroarch or installing Windows98. There's a guide in the emulation section. Once you get Win98 running it's just a matter of finding the game's ISO on some archive on the Internet.

Wow, thanks. Technology these days, huh. I'll look into it, cheers 👍

I always kind put Stands and Summoning abilities in the same bracket. I'd imagine there's a decent amount of CRPGs with strong summoning abilities, but here are a few off the top of my head:

Baldur's Gate 1/2, like you mentioned- a lot of the arcane spells you could consider as being pretty stand-like. Simulacrum in particular creates a temporary clone of your character with mostly identical stats, and isn't confined to Wizards / Sorcerers thanks to Vhalior's Helm. You can also summon a familiar which can help in combat- although the wiser move is usually just to store it in your inventory to prevent it from dying and cause permanent stat penalties.

Diablo 2's necro has its summonable skeleton armies, although his golems are probably the most stand-like:

The Amazon and Assassin have their own summons with Shadows and Valkyries, but they're not typically strong enough to make a build around. Most Diablo-clones like Sacred 1/2, Grim Dawn, POE, etc are going to have viable summoning builds where you can rely on one strong summon or small armies of fodder to do the legwork.

Arcanum (basically the spiritual successor to Fallout 1/2) summoning builds are among the strongest specs in the game, with a lot of variety in how you can accomplish it. You can summon elementals, zombies, orcs / ogres, resurrect dead foes to use in your personal army or just have one and buff them to high heaven. If you're choosing technology spec instead of magic you can also build overpowered mechanical arachnids if you prefer your stands more like Baby Face.

On the more Indie side of things there's the Geneforge RPG series where summoning (or shaping) is the game's central mechanic. IMO this would probably be the closest to a genuine 'Stand' experience out of any of them- you can choose from an array of different creatures to focus around, spec into the monsters individually to either focus on an army vs. 1 single strong creature, and spec your primary character in a variety of different ways as well. Those games are not much in the graphics department but I found the first Geneforge to be incredibly immersive once I gave it an hour or two.

Ya, I actually got windows 98 to run on retroarch. When I went back in it wanted me to boot from 2 choices of windows 98 se. I chose the first one and it said booting from disk c and just stayed on that with no movement from there. I didn't find the guide but did find a vid to get me as far as I got. I'm not sure how the games can be downloaded on win 98 if it doesn't recognise your wifi connection. It's pretty much win 98 looking for dial-up or similar, lol.

When you get your ISO of the game you open it with the DOSBox Pure core, then use the "run with installed OS" option and it will mount in a virtual CDRom drive in your Win98 install. From there you'll have to install the game.

Guide is split between this :
And this.
