Is Stupid Invaders (Dreamcast) Worth it in 2025?

My friends got me hooked on Stupid Invaders some time ago. I looked at listings on eBay recently and saw it trending around $70 - $80. Is it actually worth it to pick up a physical copy? I know it has two disks and has a pretty unique vibe, but I also don't own a Dreamcast myself.

It's an abandonware on PC where resolution and cutscenes are a bit better than on flycast IIRC. I've played through it, it's fun but got some moon logic riddles so I had to use a spoiler-free hint guide. I got a full playthrough of it on the channel.

I really liked Jean-Yves Raimbaud's work as a teen. He co-created Stupid Invaders and passed away in 1998 before the game released.

Yeah I don't mind being trolled by a videogame. In this one there's a riddle implying a maze and a snail that could make quick to anger people really really furious. XD

But the concept in itself is hilarious when you think about it. What's most universally hated in videogames other than mazes? What could make them even worse? Having to solve the maze on the back of a giant snail of course. Pure genius.

If you’re aiming for a complete Dreamcast collection, then sure, go ahead and grab it! But if you're just looking to play the game, it’s not really a must-have. As someone pointed out, it's available in the repo, so why not snag a copy, give it a spin, and see if it tickles your fancy? If you end up enjoying it and feel like adding it to your collection, then buy it! Remember when games actually had demos? Ah, the nostalgia! Just think of it as a little trial run before you whip out your wallet!
