yeah i think the original being inaccessible (outside of just the story cutscenes) for most has lead the few voices that say it sucks be kind of just accepted in the community. i generally think its a pretty fun game that translates the original very well into the more limited ds. the only real problem is the structure, but as someone who only grew up with handhelds, that was just the most common structure for a handheld title. I think a lot of people just wanna power through it and get to the end, but if they just take their time and not just do every mission in one sitting, they will enjoy it a lot more. treat it like its monster hunter or something.

Thankfully on PC we have Melon Mix to fix that.

true, but your average kh fan would probably be turned off by the ds graphics and the low bitrate cutscenes. i think had square enix remastered/remade it along the lines of ReChain of Memories, or even just like a version with higher poly models and textures, more people would sing its praises

also, i hadnt heard of Melon Mix before. It's really cool to see fans take it upon their selves to remaster it. i hope they get along to doing the same for ReCoded, that game really needs a second chance

Its an ok game. I liked re:coded more, but again, it is an ok game. Honestly wish they would of added both to the F###ing HD package instead of just the cut scenes. Oh but Dream Drop Distance got its own solo version....stupid 2.8.

Should you play it....yes. Plain and simple or as song goes, simple and clean

This. Anyway, I usually read/watch them to have a better idea, but knowing that in the end I will follow my instinct (ex. Assassins' Creed Chronicles Russia, I kept reading bad comments but I liked the gameplay video -gameplay but also graphics- so I got it on Vita day-one and totally loved all three titles of the collection).

It's repetitive and have bad controls, but is mid at worst. I usually hear reviews while I'm playing, maybe they noticed an error I don't.

You should only use reviews as a superficial base of the quality of the game, normally our tastes are too unique to apply the general public opinion to everything. Basically just be wary to play a game if everyone you've seen say it's something absurd like unplayable, bug infested or crash every second, but even so you can still like the game. I say this from experience, i was making so much fun of Cyberpunk 2077 but when i actually played it i was hooked and it became one of my favorite games ever(this before the patches that fixed it)

If you want to play the game, by all means mah dude, play your heart out.

That said, its a DS game. The overheads of simply checking it out are pretty low.
IMO, looks pretty rad for a DS game. Bearing in mind what the lil system was capable of.
Jump in. You got nothing to lose.

Short Answer: In my personal opinion, No

Long Answer: It plays quite a bit differently from other kingdom hearts games. It has a mission based structure, and a lot of unique challenges in most of those missions.(though not all, some are just kill 20 shadow blobs and call it a day). So, the game is about making the right loadout for each mission by configuring your panels. So the game is a lot more strategic than just other kh games in its gameplay. Which perhaps went against the expectation. (I don't know what the person said in the video but I tired to watch and the auto translated captions were bad to the point of not being comprehendible.) So I would say try it for yourself and see if you like it.

It's not bad, I had fun with it. Has it's problem, but as a hack N slash J rpg on the 3ds, it does a good work.

i'd say on the matter of reviewers, you should judge them based on how fairly that they judge the game. if you hear nothing but negativity, while the comments and other reviewers are more positive; then that person probably just doesn't like that game/series/genre. i wouldn't expect someone who likes shooters to like rpgs or someone who likes visual novels to like stealth games or action ones.
but you should also be wary of those who heap too much praise without criticism. botw got lots of game of the year on a lot of people's and reviewers lists. i played it. it's fun, but it definitely has flaws.
have you checked out other reviews by this person, and see what they think of other games?

well, personally it´s the odd fish of the game, Re:coded (also in the same fate of cinematics only on remaster) did insert a better but different leveling system (a long motherboard compared to simple slots that is long as half of the touchscreen), but it has multiplayer (me and the boys /up to 4 players), someone is making a pc port thanks to melon DS and another group is remaking the entire campaign in the ps2 KH2.

You should definitely at least try it if you're a fan of the series. The mechanics are pretty decent for it being a kh on NDS and the story is beautiful.
Like, you get to watch Axl and Roxas try to be friends in an abstract and tragic scenario and for that I say the game is well worth a play through.

Actually i have played this game to the end!
Its story happens before re:coded. It was one of the few games that i enjoyed so much that i almost completed it 100%!

In my opinion, both the story and the gameplay were awesome and superior to re:coded.

However, you should note that i played 358/2 first, and honestly, when i played re:coded after it, i was disappointed.

So if you enjoyed re:coded, there’s a chance that:
1. You will enjoy it even more!
2. You will feel disappointed due to the differences…
3. You will be satisfied.

Opinions about games vary... when it comes to enjoyment, neither the opinion of reviewers nor my opinion matters... Only your own opinion matters.
We are talking about YOUR enjoyment, after all! ?

If I listened to people's opinion I wouldn't be enjoying life. Just remember just because someone made a youtube video doesn't mean they know everything, they are just as ignorant. You have to play the game yourself to see if its good or not even if you end up haven't a bad time, there are worst games out there.
