If it's cheap, I say yeah. And jailbreaking a PS3 is easier than a Vita, honestly.
As stated above, you'll unlock a lot of hard to run games that will play fine on the PS3.
Hell, like you, I didn't buy a PS3 until I found one in a pawn shop for about 50 bucks I think it was, maybe less, I can't remember.

I jailbroke it that night. Had a lot of fun with it, so ya if you find one and the price is within your budget, go for it. And PS3 game erum I mean "backups" aren't hard to find.

Also the PS3 controller is damn comfy to use to.

It's too long to write in the title so I'll put it here.
I already have a psvita (with adrenaline), a 3ds (with twilight), and a Switch on which I prefer to buy physical but I could also buy digital if I find something I really want to play. I also have a pc on which I can use the ps2 emu.

I saw an used ps3 in a second-hand market, very cheap, and from the online guides it seems it can be hacked, though it doesn't sound so simple as the handhelds.

Question: having all those other consoles, is it worth to buy a ps3? Many ps3 titles have been ported on psvita (ex. Atelier, Neptunia) or on Switch (ex. Assassin's Creed Ezio trilogy); I have already had an used and cheap xbox360 just to play "FF13" and "Eternal Sonata". Are there exclusive ps3 titles that you would recommend me to play, or I'm more than ok already and I'm not missing anything important?

PS3 still has some cool exclusives like Puppeteer. Plus, it's sort of fascinating playing older games and seeing no trophies pop up because they didn't have any. You can also use a PS 5 controller with some games. I find the PS3 controller kind of crap after experiencing the PS4 and PS5 controllers.

Yeah you convert them to ps2 classics and it just works
How well they run? well around 70-80% of ps2 library works just fine

Unless you have an original 60gb PS3 from 2006, most of the PS2 games run on software emulation so it varies.

• Considering a PlayStation console is not the same as others it depends on the model you have:

- CECHAXX and CECHBXX has real PS2 hardware in it so naturally it has the best compatibility for PS2.

- CECHCXX and CECHEXX lacks real PS2 GPU but it has the real PS2 CPU therefore it have to emulate PS2's GPU.

- CECHGXX, CECHHXX, CECHJXX, CECHKXX, CECHXX, CECHMXX, CECHPXX, CECHQXX, CECH-2XXX, CECH-3XXX and CECH-4XXX have no PS2 hardware in it so they require full PS2 emulation. Naturally it drops compatibility further.

• But what there is to consider is what PS3 model you can hack in what way:

- CECHAXX to CECHQXX, CECH-20XX and CECH-21XX supports CFW (Custom Firmware)

- Only early CECH-25XX models with a MinVerChk of 3.56 or lower supports CFW.

- CECH-3XXX and CECH-4XXX don't support CFW, but they support another method called HEN (Homebrew Enabler).

- CFW is easy to implement to your PS3 and easy to use, but HEN requires you to activate it every time you reboot your PS3, it is less stable and lacks lots of features CFW have. Often people regrets having to use HEN and buys a PS3 that supports CFW.

• The models you have also changes how you can play a PS2 video game:

- You may play PS2 discs on CECHAXX, CECHBXX, CECHCXX, CECHEXX and the disc can be a pirated copy, however the Blu-Ray reader's durability is being reduced reading a PS2 disc (no matter if it is pirated or original copy) way more than it reading a PS3 disc (However still to this day the scene couldn't agree if its an urban legend or a philosophical exaggration while both sides in the war makes great points lol).

- On a PS3 with CFW or HEN instead of playing via disc you may use webMAN MOD or something.

Yes. If it’s a later phat or early slim unit then YES.
Hack it and put stuff on there like the TimeSplitters 4 concept demo, or that Gundam game FromSoft made for it, and all the other Armored Core games too.

I have a modded PS3. I have a USB hard drive attached with the ability to play PS1, PS2, and PSP games. The psp games that work are upscaled. It can also run retroarch. I would say it's worth it if the price is good.
