Is it safe to download in Germany?

I'm currently living in Germany and wanted to ask if it's ok to download games with this website, I heard the government monitors and fine people downloading software, a friend told me it only affects people that used torrent, but I want to be sure, thank you in advance

I'm not German, never been to that country and probably never will... But a friend who does told me that the government is really quite actively monitoring all of that. That said, he always talked about torrents when saying so, so I'm not sure how direct downloads factor in on all this.

It *SEEMS* that VPNs are ok, though.

Nichts ist ganz sicher und am Ende ist es eine glücksache um ehrlich zu sein.
Aber naja Ich glaube die nehmen das mit emulation und emulatoren nicht so ernst hier.Aber sind auch schon gute Roms hier aber ob du was runterladen willst ist deine entscheidung aber Ich glaube es ist sicher genug.Ich persöhnlich empfehle den Brave oder Librewolf browser für mehr privatsphäre.

Technically legally speaking of course neither of those options is really well safe as there is not a 100% safe option my lad.
As I assume that your Internet provider can check up what you are downloading at least as far as I am aware of the current situation.
But on how the risk is actually I would say its pretty low as I assume that the police has more to do by going after real criminals instead of some scoundrels downloading pirated media like games especially if they are not even sold anymore.
But in the end everyone has to decide on there own what they use and what they do as this is not a encouragement but rather a description of the Situation.

Ja Ich glaube auch das die Blauen einfach was besseres zu tun haben als uns die Bude einzurennen wegen einen Alten Spiel wo man runtergeladen hat.
Aber am Ende glaube Ich das man nicht so viel sicherer oder unsicherer ist wen man direkt runterlädt oder einen Torrent benutzt.
Das Risiko is natürlich immer da aber Ich glaube das es sehr niedrig ist.
