Is it me or the battle menus in Mother 1 look kinda better than the battle menus in the NES DQ games? (I chose DQ3 even though the NES games have an identical battle menu among eachother)

What do you think?

I think that Mother 1 aka Earthbound Beginnings more detailed battle menus than those of Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior and that is noticeable in the status of the level, HP (Health Points) and PP (Power Points) and also as additional options such as PSI, Check and Auto.

You’re right Mother 1’s battle screen interface is more detailed than any other DQ games on the NES.

And yes, MOTHER's battle UI looks better. Smoother font and I like the party info being below the enemies.

Even if we ignore the amount of detail, I think that the presentation is more elegant in Mother 1, and it uses better the space to order the menu, avoiding cut or crumpled text.

I'm a hardcore fan so I can tell you myself. NES DQ games were the main inspiration for mother 1, and that DQ inspiration lasted into the second game. by Mother 3 it somewhat faded but yeah you're not wrong at all. iirc before he even pitched it to nintendo, itoi would play DQ in his bed at night when he felt lonely.

In gb version DQ3 had a good menu. But it doesn't look good in nes against mother 3
