Is it a bad idea to watch one pace instead of the original one piece anime?

I was goofing around
My bad.

It wasn't obvious though, or at least it didn't read like that, I could've thought maybe sarcasm?

No harm done though :)

I'm starting to watch one piece and I asked a friend about one pace, and he told me that one pace "actually cuts stuff that doesnt seem relevant but actually is" and that it feels less like an adventure and such, but I've seen lots of people saying one pace is better cuz it fixes pacing issues (hence the name). My friend has watched up to circa episode 750 fyi
Honestly you should just read the manga. I'm not gonna get into why I think so, because I'd honestly be repeating points that I'm sure most people are already saying anyway.

If for whatever reason you still wanna watch the anime, I recommend watching important moments or fights. The movies are also a fun time and are their own original stories as well.
