Is gaming dying?

I feel bad for devs. It's not the fault of the average overworked dev that a game was rushed or full of poorly implemented concepts. The guy who designed the blades of grass is not your enemy. Blame the suits who don't play games and just want to make money. They like to hire consultant groups who know what those happenin' kids over at TikTube and YouTok think is groovy and radical. But the people in those consultant groups don't care about games either. They care about money.

That's a big problem. Greed over fun.
I think we as a community dont want to admit that we are part of the problem. "Well maybe we wouldnt have to doxx and send death threats if they'd just make a good game.", but in reality there should never be a point at which anyone does those things to another person, regardless of the game being good or not.
Nowadays its like everything has a rage outlet. When i was a kid i didnt like Fester's Quest for NES, but i had no rage outlet other than to just play something else. I didnt have a dev Twitter i could stalk and harass, i didnt have a Discord where i could band together with others and devise a way to make trouble.

Don't lump all gamers into one toxic mess. Most of them don't harrass devs.

Of course, the same with game devs, not every game dev is a no good sonofagun. The rage channels on Youtube do have an audience though, i think most of that audience just wants to hear the latest drama, but there is a portion of that audience (just as in game dev), who have misguided intentions. For instance, look at what happened to the indie dev of Soulash, and the harassment he got from people in the gaming community.

So yeah, i dont think gaming is dead, but i do think its in a dark place at the moment.

Either that or gamers swallowing any trash produced by AAA devs which encourages them to make half baked games.

I'm sure they didn't say every gamers.

I don't know why you felt the need to specify that when I never implied that to be the case.
I wanted to make it clear, because you initially came in with the assumption that I was calling everyone in the gaming community toxic. The gaming community does have a problem. That's not to say everyone is a bad actor though.

Agreed. We, the community, need more self-control with our purchases. I'm guilty of this myself, I bought Starfield on release. Without our money, they'd fail, and have to go back to the drawing boards before they release another half-baked game.

I just think its important to keep in mind that it takes two to tango, and the idea that, "big corporations are killing gaming", while true, isn't the full picture. Part of it is the community, of course not everyone (i need to make that clear before anyone assumes), but we need better self-control with our purchases, and we need to hold each other accountable.

Stop buying then, you don't even have to pay to play these games.

the generation z gamers are starting to find the games of 20 years ago -
Yep, mobile "games" dominated everything.

Post 2012, every video game wants to be a mobile "game", even the AAA ones.
And you don't even need ultra high RTX graphix in these "games" to sell too damn well...
