Is anyone else mad about the Switch 2's TOS and the game carts with no game data on them?

Nah not mad why would I be mad when im not gonna buy their trash console ? I just wish Nintendo could fucking die alrady and join sega and make games for everything else plus PC. Honestly would be more happy if I could play Tears of the Kingdom or newer zelda games on PC instead of having to blow money on an over price console that under preform.

I will always say graphics is not important I play shit load of old games that well they are not Cyberpunk quallity graphics but they are fun and RUN WELL. Performance is important as much as game play and story is. I mean it´s 2025 you don´t wanna run games at 20-30fps heck even 60fps is bad in today´s standard. The new standard is 120fps like it or not.

I wonder how many people who are outraged about the Game-Key Cards still continue using Steam.
I'd say their outrage would still be justified if they were still buying nintendo games for the physicals. Though I'm sure some are still outraged just because it's fun to be outraged and yell at things in online mobs.

I don't think anything about this will concern an average consumer btw. It's more of a turbonerd/enthusiast tier issue that poses some concerning questions about preservation and whatnot.

Also to steams credit, it doesn't really do that much to lock you out of your licensed software. Some don't even use the valves own drm. Their hardware is shockingly open too for such a company.

Mad? No, it's their stuff they can sell it how they want. I don't have to buy it.
I've been pirating their shit for 25 years so I can't really complain. I will probably get a Switch 2 and buy a few games. But once it can be emulated I will take full advantage.

I don't really care about the TOS. I have no intention of modding the system during it's life cycle, that's something I do after the stores die. The game key card thing is annoying, there will definitely be a lot of games I would've bought full price but will wait for a sale instead if it's one of those game key cards.

Not that I'm buying a Switch 2 at launch, I have no idea when I'll be getting one.

The only thing that really concerns me is Nintendo saying they will brick any modded consoles. I don't see how that should be allowable or legal. They are within their rights to ban anyone they choose from using their servers, but the purchaser should own the hardware they've paid money for and should be able to tweak it if they want.

Apparently it bricks if it detects "incorect voltage" so you better hope you don't a power cut, or use the wrong charger, or look at it in a funny way.

For real? That would be a real issue where I live with our shitty ass power company, lol.

Not mad about it, but not a big fan of it. Though none of the games they've shown off look like they're worth the price of admission. I kinda hope it flops a bit for them to course correct, but it probably won't happen.

I'm not sure when or if I'll wind up getting one - I don't really care now, but a good-looking game trailer can change that pretty quick - but my main concern is how aggressively they'll judge whether a device is being tampered with. I'd hate to spend that much money on something that can brick on a false positive.

Im not mad about it .
Im just a little suprised .

Nintendo had actually a great run with the original Switch and is the best sold console this gen .
I thought they actually understood what Sony and MS did wrong and surpassed them with just actual pro-consumer tactics , but in actuality , they just want to be idiotic like their competitors and screw themselves over .

Right now im thinking that Sega could finally backstab nintendo very hard by bringing a new console that is pro-consumer and have awesome games too that blow Nintendo out of the water .
It would be cool ... not possible and Sega dont really look much better today . But would be still cool .

Like the Julius Caesar backstab of the Gaming industry .

THIS IS SEGAAAA !!!

This will be the first Nintendo system since the GameCube that I will not be getting on launch.

It's not directly related to Nintendo's draconian control over the hardware, there is nothing on the system that looks interesting and I am not going to pay $70+ for video games.

However, people should not support any company that sells hardware that you do not truly own. It sets a prescient that people are willing to do so. The more control you allow these companies to have over products and services, the more they will take. Do not support it.

The game card with the key is fine. Preservation has never meant anything to these publishers. At least you have some semblance of ownership. It's certainly a step up from owning anything digitally from Nintendo.

Of course I am but not because im a nintendo fan, but because it sets a really huge Anti-consumer normalized practice for Triple-A companies

Other companies will follow and do the same because It's OK when Nintendo does it, the Floodgates are now open

It's not really the same thing. The only similarity is at the end of the day both games are digital. With key cards you are just making more e-waste for no reason. However, it seems that you are allowed to share key cards without the other person having to buy the game too as long as the card is in their Switch 2. They aren't limiting it to households like Steam Family. So it does have some upsides. It just seems a waste to get the key card unless you intend to share with someone or want to collect what will eventually amount to plastic tabs with pretty stickers.

the more "fuck you" the terms of service get the more morally correct i see it to disobey those terms, or at least not buy their shit. unfortunately, modding your console or pirating the games just makes them do more of this type of thing. somehow its like a war between the consumer and the company. some people want the product and nintendo doesn't want to give, while still selling it to them and taking their money.

People getting upset about the game key cards don't realize that there are many Switch 1 games that are already set up that way. Like the Bioshock series cartridge requires downloads before you can play.

Already have a switch 1 cuz somebody gave it away to me and that's good enough for me. Anyways, customers are way too lenient on Nintendo. I really don't get brand loyalty.

I won't buy a single "physical" game that's a download code or Game-Key Card. Sadly, that's almost every game from third-party publishers. I would've bought some of the Sega ports at some point, but now I definitely won't since they're all Game-Key Cards. Thankfully, Yakuza 0: Director's Cut is also coming to PS5 so I'll buy it there.

I intended to get a Switch 2 but after all the new info, I think I'll be done buying next gen systems (I don't own a current gen system aside from Nintendo Switch).

I didn't plan to mod or do anything to my machine, never have. However, I cannot get behind the idea that I purchase an item and still don't own it if the company decides I'm using it in some way they don't like. If they said I was renting it, that would be a different situation.

As far as the games, we've been going down the digital path for a long time so it's inevitable at this point that all major media companies want physical media to go away. I don't like the idea of buying a physical shell and it still basically being a digital code however. Seems dumb.

Nintendo has never upset me really. They were kings when I was a kid. They were a backseat rider in my teens. The Switch pulled them out of the cellar and made them relevant. It looks like the Switch 2 may be off to a rough start if they stick with some of what they're doing, but time will tell.

These two moves however don't make me want one for sure. I'm too old school for my own good I guess.

these TOS should be not even exist. not that i care. but still it's just stupid... it like nintendo's giving a big middle finger to the world saying piracy is over with our newer stuff and we rasied game prices too so deal with it or GTFO.

I say, pirate harder then. Pirate every game they have ever made and share them with everyone.
