Is anime only for children ?

I had a strange discussion with some colleagues at work yesterday who think that anime is only for children. I don't think anime is only for children there is always something for young and old but well what do you think about it Is anime only for children?

That's exactly what I think too, there is something for everyone but just to say that everything is only for children no that's not true.

Some are definitely not for children.

This may sound weird, but I think that the focus on certain taboo subjects, and on the personal/private internal struggles of characters is so commonplace in anime because of just how secular Japanese culture is. Which isn't a criticism by any means.
Just my opinion, anyway.

Le Anime is not only for Children,in fact there are Animes that are really not for Children at all.And even by more Childish Animes is my rule as long as you enjoy them watch them,don't let anybody tell you that you can't watch a Anime or a Cartoon because you are to old for it.

Well, not always because the anime are mostly for teenage audiences (TV-PG or TV-14) although sometimes they are for adults (TV-MA).

If we gonna say anime is for kids only well just hand them the crack pipe while your at it.

I have heard girls saying boy that likes anime or games is a red flag because that shit is for children. Does people that think that have their heads so far up their own ass it´s a wonder they are alive. I mean who can breath when your head so far up your ass ?

Anime if for all ages reason why we have E for every one, PG12 for well 12 years old PG 16 for 16 and PG and for adults. OR if your not used to PG well ESRB 12,16 and 18.

I wonder do people have 0 clue what ESRB stands for ? it stands Entertainment Software Rating Board and PG stand for Parental Guidance and the reason they exist is to protect children from adults stuff hence why we have PG18 because your kid should not watch or play ADULT themed games or anime.

There are things in anime I wouldn't want children to watch, even in anime targeted for them. We even got a specially censored version of Dragon Ball here in Argentina when I was a kid.
