This isn't just another "cool music" or "great sound design!" or "awesome voice acting!" thread. I'm talking about games that use audio in clever ways.

The Mario games have a lot of cool little audio cues I'd like to mention as well like when you kill 8 enemies in a row with each kill triggering a slightly different sound before you eventually get a 1-up.

Listen to the musical shift when he goes in and out of water. Cool audio cues in the labyrinth too.

Wario Land 4 on GBA and Tempo for Sega 32X having full vocals in their songs was pretty mindblowing.

There's a series of sound-based mazes in The Witness that require you to listen to birds chirping to determine if it's a high/mid/low pitch, which you then use to draw the line through the maze. Later on in the game at the sunken ship, there's a maze that employs multiple requirements and for the sound one, the birds are replaced with sounds of ship settling - it is without a doubt the hardest puzzle I've ever tried in a game, even seeing the solution and having it explained, it still doesn't seem right.

The bit generation games on GBA all did different stuff with sound iirc and I want to say there was one you could play solely by listening and not looking at it? It's fuzzy in my memory.

The Wii Remote Speaker. Various games had certain sounds from the game play on the Remote’s speaker. It was pretty cool.
