Have you ever played a game for the first time, and almost immediately realized that it's gonna be one of your favorites?

For me personally, it was Jet Set Radio.
I bought it on a whim at a Steam sale in 2014 because it had a cool looking logo and went for like nine bucks. I played through the entire thing in one late-night sitting and once I turned it off after beating it, all I could think was "This is the best shit I've ever played."

How about you?

Lobotomy Corporation. Always been a fan of SCP creature-type stuff, and something about LC and being able to research the monsters myself pumped levels of serotonin and dopamine into my brain that I didn't even know were possible. I remember one night i was in the middle of playing and i just stared at the screen and cried.............. so peak <3

Retro City Rampage and Shakedown Hawaii by Brian Provinciano. Best Indie games hands down. I've went through RCR like 25 times since the DX edition came out in 2014. One of the first Steam games I bought too.

For recent releases a game that surprised me was Wanted: Dead from the creators of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. The game has some considerable Jank when it comes to controls, but it reminded me of early 2000s action games. The sense of Nostolgia while playing something that looked modern was something you don't experience too often.

I mean I can keep going good games are good and lets you have fun they don´t true to PREACH to you like the so called "modern audience games" we get today do.

5 that come to mind
  • Mizubaku Adventure on ARC/PCE/SAT since its by Taito and has platform elements.
  • The Legend of Xanadu Xanadu II on PCECD since it's an action-RPG with unique 2P boss battles.
  • Love & Destroy on PS1 since it's visually similar to Bulk Slash one of my favorite games.
  • Domino Rally on WII since it reminded me of No One Can Stop Mr. Domino!
  • Magical Pop'n on SFC since it plays similar to Silhouette Mirage one of my favorite games.
5 Honorable mention

Magical Taruruto (MD), Down Load (PCE), Gimmick! (FC), SonSonII (PCE), Forgotten Worlds (ARC).

Tera Online? I was watching my sister play this back in the day and fully lost it when I saw someone pass by in a clown car. Never played it but it seemed cool.

I was a little boy when I played Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga and it was my favorite video game. Obviously because it included the two things that every kid loves: Star Wars and Lego. Years later, I emulated the game on RPCS3 and realized that the game was still fun as can be. It seems strange to me that I instantly fell in love with a game and years later still love it the same way.

The only other time something like this happened was with Silent Hill 2, which I still love to this day as well.

God Hand is just one of those games man. Nothing will ever be or has been like it. Awesome ass game.

Man, when I saw this intro for the first time, when I started playing Majora's Mask for the first time, back in January 2017, I knew I was in for a truly incredible experience.

those first 24 seconds.... man

Always thought Majora was better than OoT. I think the game having a time limit really raises the stakes in a good way, and you get forced to learn layouts. Which in the older Zelda games, memory was a key part of the gameplay so that's really cool.

I like Ocarina of Time, but I agree that overall (especially in terms of side quests) that Majora's Mask is the better game.

Oh, don't get me wrong. OoT is one of those games like Super Mario 64 where it transcends anything else. Revolutionary. I just prefer Majora's Mask. Can't have Majora without OoT.
