As for PhD education you gotta read Densha De D manga and play its games.

For your doctoral thesis you gotta drift via a train:

After a successful multi-track drifting for 10 seconds and reverting your train back to one track you will be a Doctor of racing and we will simply call you "D. or T. *Your name*" instead of a Dr. lol.

The arcade game and it's ports are one of my favourite racing games. I've watched most of the anime and it's pretty good too. I'm not big into cars but can't deny the hype this series brings.

I will admit; I only ever watched the first anime, the series has been on my backlog for years now. The soundtrack is something I've listened to many times over the years though with Night of Fire being the best song for me. Goes with everything cool involving cars.

Not necessarily, every sequel is titled a different stage. Most people, myself included, mostly stick to first stage, which is 26 episodes long. You could watch more but I can’t comment on the quality of those.
There’s a meme about Takumi winning every race, however I feel this could apply to a lot of anime shows.
